My MPK experience :(Follow

The other day I was partying in Garliage near the Banishing Gate. To avoid all the the mobs that spawn in every area down there we were partying rather close to another party right outside the gate.

They started yelling at us and harrassing us to move away, but in all actuality we weren't bothering each other by pulls or interfering with each other's partying in any way the entire time...so I'm not sure what the big deal was. I've had closer parties in Yhoator...

Then the other party was finished, the final member, a 33ish Ninja, pulled two Beetles to our party (we were fighting a bat), did Suicide, and HP'd.

Of course more than half our party died instantly.

I was upset at first, but then curious... this is the first time I've encountered someone so childish and mean. Everyone in the party wanted to call a GM, but I sent a polite tell to the offender saying basically 'why did you MPK our party? That seems a bit mean. My party is probably going to call a GM, fyi'

I got a reply that said 'Well, I could have called a GM on you, but whatever...'

I found out later that the MPKer is actually a Rank 5 Lvl57 Thief, which is even more disturbing. Why do players act so childish? I was just really stunned that someone would be so mean and bitter.

I'm torn between wanting to just ignore what happened, wanting to track the player down and slap them silly, and wanting to spread to everyone I know that 'PlayerXX' is a MPKer!! and BEWARE... but I'm not sure what I should do....

What an a-hole. In places like Garliage it's hard not to be close to other partys. I know sometimes it sucks, but MPKing someone because their party was too close?!?!?!?!

Well ***-holes love attention that is for certain (see Sepukku) but in general I guess it is better to let people know about these other players then to just let people find out themselves. The best way to act about it is to just probably ignore the incident and go on with your life. Dying in game sucks but hey the worst that happens is you lose some xp and you met an asshat you know to watch out for next time. If you make a big fuss out of it and pitch a fit (see the way I acted when Seppy MPKed my pt) then they will probably just get off on it and be more likely to do it again. Meh the GMs have proved notoriously worthless when it comes to... well honestly just about anything so just go on with your game have fun and dont let other people ruin your fun time because you can even make an MPK into a fun even... say by judging the style in which you were MPKed the size of the train... the monsters chosen etc etc. I think that having this kind of reaction to something like that might kind of just bore the MPKer who is probably looking for a tirade. I dunno... Hey Sepukku what is it that gets your rocks off when you MPK someone ? Is it the arguing involved or the cursing or is it just knowing you can kill another persons character ? ON the NEXT 60 minutes !... "In the mind of an MPKer" Sep give us the inside scoop... and anyone else that is an admitted MPKer what is it that makes you tick !

I dont get pleasure out of killing people. Thats like incinuating that American Soliders kill Iraqi Insurgents for fun. Its dirty work, no one involved enjoys it, it sometimes has to be done. (Like for example when kilee lost her kraken club, I swore on my name that Id MPK the Club thief. Did i want to lose 10% of my XP? No, but sometimes defending people/your-party/your-friends is justifiable to the XP/Reputation loss.)

Maybe you guys dont value your ingame friends, your partys, etc the way i do.

Sepukku, I've spent the last 2 months doing my best to ignore you as much as possible. This is because you seem to take pleasure from people hating you.

But...I found this too hilarious....

How do you, a level 50 red mage, propose to MPK a level 75 dark knight?

I'm sure that he'd probably play a lower level job here and there but I'm sure, in fact I'm 100% positive, he's smarter than you and you'd not be able to touch him.

I have a feeling that your idea of MPK is either (a) not healing someone in your party who depends on it, therefore jeopardizing the rest of your party and yourself, and (b) training something to a party and dying so the fiends aggro them.

No style or imagination whatsoever. Maybe one day you'll learn how to MPK without suiciding yourself. I rather hope this to be the case, so someone will report you to a GM, get you banned, and I won't have to listen to your inane shouting anymore.

P.S. Do you even know what the definition of "insurgent" is without looking it up in a dictionary?

I'm beginning to see that trying to figure out the mind of an MPKer is impossible.

Meara, can you define Incinuate without getting a dictionary?

It's spelled insinuate. Spelling police to the rescue! Carry on, citizens.

Yes, but hilariously enough, you can't spell it.

I've never really had much interest into talking on these boards, despite how many names I have seen, and know, from Shiva. But I found that, after reading this topic, it was only fair I respond.

The "other party" you were partying with in Garliage Citadel was actually mine. I was a WHM in their party, I saw this all happen, but TOOK NO PART IN IT <---Key. While our leaders and a couple of our members argued with your party, I didn't get involved. I just stayed quiet and healed.

Some time later, we decide on DBing. I have to go afk for a little bit, and when I come back, the party is discussing about something. I was kinda clueless...then I realized that they were intending on MPKing you. The BLM escaped us out, and before I really realized it, our NIN ran up with the beetles, blew up, and HPed.

The ninja who did this told me that "he got tells of the party whining and tattleing on you." I honestly don't know who was at fault here, but in our defense (NOT JUSTIFYING THE MPK!!) We were at the place first, and you did nearly get us killed with some of your pulls.

Regardless, we left and headed for crawlers nest... Whereupon in the middle of a mob, the two NINs are taken to...you guessed it, Morion Goal. Both received a an official "warning" on their record, and was let back out shortly thereafter. I just wanted to let the people on the board know the story from the other side...although I never agreed to their MPK, they still hold grudges for the report. If the two NIN's are reading this, bear in mind, I'm not placing the blame on anyone...merely explaining the story from the other side.

well u brought this up in a very objective point of view .

there can be many nice players in a server but it just takes one or two to spooil it for the rest..

Thanks, Fxeni, for the objective post from 'the other side.'

We never pulled more than one mob so I'm not sure how our pulls almost got your party killed, but I apologize if that was the case. I was the WHM, as you were, and merely along for the ride in the PT, watching what happened.

I certainly don't blame you or anyone else in the Party besides the MPKers themselves. I'm happy to know they did get an official warning - and I'm less mad about it than I was before.

But I will always remember the name of the NIN (57 THF) and how immature they acted...there was just no excuse for what they did.

On a lighted note, i was camping VE in the dunes late last night, in lvl 7 armor. A player grabed a gob walked right up to me, and stopped. This player had been standing within target distance from me for almost an hour when they did this. Now at first i was upset, but then it turned to laughter. It was only obvious when the bogy's flew right by me and didnt agro, and also when 10 other gobs walked right by me that i was plenty high enough to not get agro. But just the fact that this player decided to try it out, is pretty childish, and silly.

Why is it that people cant seem to share in this game? I mean everyone went to elementary school at some point, and im sure they taught everyone how to share. Camping an NM is a chance thing. You either get it or you dont, but to try and give someone a disadvantage is pretty childish.

people are greedy. i think it has something to do with Sepkukku and his american values of doing what the hell you want because he's american. i dunno. im english. personally i dont give a /toss about where anyone comes from just as long as they arnt d**ks. simply treat others as you wish to be treated. id camp near a pt if it was the only place to camp. simply put i dont give a damn who was there first. as long as there is no harm then who cares really.

MPK is what people use when they are sexualy frustrated. either that or they are noobs. MPK is never justafyable except under certain circumstances (see below)

I have found someone in the game. i share everything. i share my gil i share my time, i share literally everything. If we all wenrt so damn selfish then the world would be a better place. Im not saying america is a bad thing. just some people take that sense of i can do what the hell i want way too far. america isnt what im attacking here. im attacking people from countries like america that use that sense of freedom to think they can do what they want. the fact is people from all over are d**ks. all because they are selfish gits.

I wrote this after being awake for like 20 hours and was angry at someone MPK'ing someone for no reason. If that pt was disbanding then why did they need to MPK the other pt. they were not gonna be in any way.

Someone tried to MPK me once when i was after a davoi coffer key. lucky for me im a kickass black mage and saw him coming. he died. my pt and i escaped then just went back in. got a few keys got a few coffers logged. usual story.

MPK is only justafyable under the following conditions

#1 Your a beastmaster fighting a NM and someone pulls the NM while it turns yellow (meaning somone else claims it as there own)

#2 the person you wanna kill is a gil farmer

#3 that person is a dumbass who thinks they own the game

#4 scammers.

People just need to get to grips and realise that the world and game doesnt revolve around them. and that the game and world revolves around us all. if we were all kind and nice and considerate we would all have a blast. i hear too many takes of nasty people taking advantage of others.

Frankly ive had eneough of everyone acting like a dumbass noob.

So whats it gonna be people. are you all gonna act like civilised people or are you all gonna act like children all of your life. Its time to enter the world off growing up. the world of adult hood. its time to get a god damn job and treat others with respect dammit.

My experience with MPK has usually been on the recieving end of it in the Selbina/Valkurum zone. People running for their lives from gobs or bogies and don't warn those sitting there. Admittedly, 9 times out of 10, it's purely accidental, PS2 players probably are too busy running to type out a quick /shout warning, PC players like me got no excuse...

Last night i was trying to level my Paladin in the dunes when some stupid little git threatened to drag a gob to the zone to MPK someone else there who apparently wouldn't party with them. This other guy didn't listen and pretty soon the zone was full of gobs. Needless to say, all of us in the zone died. (stupid little me stuck around to be the hero to make sure incomers to the zone could zone safely). Later on I got a small measure of revenge, when I dared the person to try that again, he did and amazingly, they all attacked him and not my invisible, level 30 whm... imagine that... >:D

Xel's right, some people seriously need to grow up.
