Hellkid, im in your LS. Heres my rant, the mages shouldn't have had to sneak/invis anyoen but themselves anyways. It is each member's responsibility to bring at LEAST 1 stack of sneak oils, 1 stack of invis powders. Don't be a *****, just buy it. Its hardly any money compared to the rank and ZM missions you can unlock by winning.

Also, dont blame it on th emages. Its hard enough finding a safe spot doing 5-2 to refresh sneak/invis without aggro anyways. But having to deal with melee and others can cause them to get aggro 10x easier.

Next time, everyone brings oils/powders, mages worry about themselves. nuff said.

If i remember correctly a good handful of things aggro magic in Xarcabard and Castle ZHavl, so...sneak and invis'ing extra would be super risky. Would you rather you die and get raised or the WHM die and the mission is over because WHM has to homepoint? But they still shouldve TRIED to sn/inv when practical (no arcana around)

the mages werent wrong
its f'king annoying to be begged for sneak and invis all the time
im a mage myself and i carry oils and powders with me in case i come past arcana mobs
and especially in a area as castle zvahl where stuff links over miles, u have to take care of urself

not the fault of the mages, its the fault of the ppl who cant take care of themselves

ps- there are no arcana mobs in zvahl
demons orcs and yagudo's are beastmen and detect by sight
quadavs are also beastmen and detect by sound
ahrimans are dragon-type (yes, ancient circle intimidates them) and detect by sound and sight, but not by magic
just to clear that up ^^;

i dont mind initial sneaking up ppl or watever, or maybe recasting 1-2 sneaks.. but if i have to remove invis to cast on you, in an area that aggros sight........... ima be pretty pissed, because that is just dumb.

But yeah, im sure you werent the major cause of 5-2 troubles today.. I wish you more luck when u try again =D

Mako - Ahriman aggro to magic I believe, although you won't see many of them once you get to the drop down part...

55 blm is probably the minimum lvl for a blm to go. If you were higher in lvl that would be MUCH nicer. Since you're the only source of damage for a good bit of the fight.

I'd recommend a full party of well-equipped 60's. I went in with Ryunoire + Mako, Ryunoire can probably take hits like a pld a few levels above her level (she was 59 at the time I think) but the rest of the party wasn't so high, and the mages could not keep her healed and everyone else with the spamming.

In conclusion: We lost because of Mako. :P

ahriman do not aggro magic.. only elementals that spawn during weather effects aggro magic there.

i think mages should sneak and invis where possible. if its the responsiblility of melee to pay for the oils all the time then why not make it ther responsibility to heal themselves also. if the mages in pt wont sneak/invis then when melles sub whm/rdm there should be no problems and mages should then sub war.

Mako, you went in as a team, and you should play as a team. You not wanting to sneak and/or invis your team members is like a war or pld letting a mage catch aggro and not voking it off them. Yes it may get annoying haveing to stop and sneak, especially cause it is a random spell and can wear off 5 seconds after casting. Nontheless, the melees are there to kill the mobs for you, and you are there to buff them and heal them. Why is it they should have to spend gill on silent oil and powders when they are there to kill the mobs?. All in all its a team effort and each member should use what they have to help the "team" be successful.

The point here isn't that casting sneak and invis on your party members is annoying. The point is that it can be dangerous.

A good example of this is running through Garlaige Citadel to coffer hunt. I'm always willing to help people get past the banishing gates, but I require that they bring Silent Oils and Prism Powders. I've been killed numerous times because someone decided to stop and cast Invis within aggro range of three Explosures.

The same principle applies in a lot of different zones. Also consider that when your sneak runs out, the mage has to resneak you and then reinvis himself, all without catching aggro from something. If you can just use a Silent Oil, you avoid any number of dangerous situations.

Of course, if none of the melees brought potions, it doesn't make any sense at all for the mages to not cast sneak or invis. I mean, running around without sneak/invis at all is a lot more dangerous than maybe catching aggro during a recast. Just don't expect mages to always be the sneak/invis *****, because a lot of us won't do it.

No matter how anyone feels about it, i would think it would be common sense to bring along sneak and invis potions, just to cover your own back if something goes wrong.

As a mage im always carrying 2D of each, but mostly because i end up giving/selling them to ppl who forget...

Another problem is that too many times the sneak and invis responsibility falls on only one mage. Bard rdm blm and anyone else who has the spell should help to sneak ppl to make sure no one gets left behind.

On that note, when someone has to sneak too many ppl, the group tends to get separated, because you always have to wait for recast time, and ppl who get sneaked and invis'd first will run out at akward times...

The way i try to handle it is, mages do the initial sneaking, but melee should cover themselves afterword.. unless its an overly easy place with no chance of aggro when recasting.

I brought 24 sneak oils and a stack of shinobi (Thf/nin) on this quest. I made sure everyone else who didn't have sneak and invis spells bring the appropriate items. It just takes too much damn time to worry about anybody but yourself on the way there.

I had 7 oils left when I reached the throne room.

Be responsible. It only costed about 20k in items, and the reward for the mission is *gasp* 20k.

i think mages should only cast for start.
after that u should count rely on yourself with sneak oil and prism powder.

and tanks should only voke once. when your in a pt it is everybody responsibility to take care of each other which means mages casting sneak invis unless it is unsafe then oils/powders should be used, otherwise they should cast.

This is pure idiocy. I'm willing to bet half of you who are saying mages should sneak/invis everyone have never even been to the castle for rank mission 5-2. It is not an easy place to be running around casting sneak/invis on 5 possible extra members because they are too cheap and lazy to take care of it themselves.

The fact of the matter is, not enough people brought supplies necessary to completing the mission. Putting in an analogy for experience points party and the tank provoking is completely different and no relation to the issue at hand.

To Crystail: Yes you work as a team, which is why you bring the sneak oils and invis powders. You don't want to aggro and kill off your party because you were cheap and couldn't afford 6k for a stack of sneak oils and I think another 6k for invis powders.
