Father,

Actually I wasn't trying to debunk it. I agree with it. Its a part of the in game economy like anything else and if it's left to its own devices will sort itself out. Its an other form of market in the game and too much or too litle of it will shift the value of gil for the gil sellers. I was actually trying to compare it to the global currency exchange but failed pretty badly I think. ( oh and speaking of currency exchange IGE now offers that...gil for credits, or plat or whatever and vice-versa).

I think my practical message is there (look over these forums and others and see the hundreds of posts on this subject and consider all the time/effort/thought that's gone into them and think about some REAL issue.....like say how many people have given this much thought to who they'll vote for in a couple of weeks? Honest considered thought to ALL the candidates on the ballot in their areas and nationally for example) but I was also trying to simply show that maybe not everyone is 'evil' in their pursuit. Yes there may be a moral arguement over this, but as I have posted I think if you look at the people shouting "morality" the loudest you'd be amazed to find how many are freely "immoral" in the exact same manner (violating an EULA) when it suits their needs (raise your hand you music Downloaders and "borrowers" of software). To me that's not morality or practicality, its Hypocracy and sadly, human nature. We all just love to cast the first stone as it were and usually with the hope that we throw it hard enough to take out our target before they can throw a bigger one back. :/

And the blanket statement that NM and Coffer camping is evil. That means ANYONE who ever got the drop or has their RSE or AF gear is evil, becuase that's how you have to get it.

Just to let you know I despise all the gil sellers and their tactics, and the fact that they own a majority of all camp grounds now, but sadly...

SquareEnix will NEVER stop the gil sellers, reason: Gil Sellers pay for about 25+ accounts on EACH server. Sure you can get that many people to complain to SE about it and you can get that many people to even quit over it. But in the end SE will always get their money from these gil seller accounts.

What can we do about getting rid of the gil sellers?
Nothing, I have tried it all, calling GM's, creating alliance's to take over their areas for an hour, PK fishing bots, etc...

What are the gil sellers are doing now?
Along with bringing in NEW accounts to keep control of the areas they once had before they started to level up... they are now camping NM's and control NM's, meaning if you happen to get the voke on them they will PK you anyway so they can to keep control over that item at the AH. Most of the "old-school" gil sellers that we have come to love so much have already obtained all their AF gear and pretend to play the game... some are now Rank 5, for the airships I guess. They also control any means for a WHM to make any gil off of teleports (feel so sorry for the real WHM's now).

Whats so bad about this all?
Say you need to go farming to get that nice set of gear for your next level... wrong think again. Once you get to your favorite hunting grounds there is a party of gil sellers that are taking everything. Fine, time to go and camp a NM... wrong! They are all camped 24-7 by gil sellers! Before a NM was probably camped by maybe 2-7 people, now its turned into 2-7 people plus a party of gil sellers that control the item. I am not sure if they have voke bots or not because i have won the voke a couple time's. Fine I will go craft, wait that was a stupid thought... I will not make any gil because I have no gil and I would need to farm the items to craft, but can't farm them because they have been gil seller camped. Ok... so the only way I can make any decent gil for that set of armor... BCNM oh no! It looks like many people are already doing this, the value of those items are beginning to drop.

WTF?
Yeah in the end we are screwed.

So should I quit and join another MMORPG?
No, you will have gil sellers there also. Again the other companies will do nothing about them as well because, "game money seller accounts" = a huge amount of real money for the company that owns the game.

So should I just give in and buy gil?
No, you are just helping all of the gil sellers buy more accounts to throw on the servers.

I heard that these gil sellers are actually sending all the profit to charity and to poor countries, is this true?
TOTAL BS! Who ever tells you this probably buys gil and is trying to make his/herself feel better about it. If you have ever talked to a gil seller account (some do speak english) they are generally college students that need the extra cash.

What they are not in sweatshops forced to play?
Sorry I have not heard of any sweatshops where they are forced play FFXI and make a certain amount of gil before they are free to go for the day.

Why dont the Japanese people complain too?
Um, they do... SE does not care. They even have a website made listing all of the gil sellers on each server (very outdated and I think the person that was doing the website quit because of the gil sellers.)

Why should I care about gil sellers, they don't bother me.
Wait until you gain a few levels and try to farm, mine, etc.

Blah, I will just go fish.
HAHA good luck! Fishing has been nerfed and takes entirely too long to make a real profit and will take forever now to get the Lu Shang Rod to actually make decent gil. (btw level 65 Fishing) unless you bot... you want make too much gil fishing.

Fine I will go bot fish.
HAHA, no you are 1 account and SE will have no problem kicking you off.

to SE we're just numbers, profit, they profit from the gil sellers. gil sellers allow ppl with very little free time to play = more money for them. with that said there's only one way to stop it, (unless of chosre the SE jumps and say stop that, they should restrict then from areas where they camp to much...) that is a world wide boycot of FFxi, tell them we don't wanna play if their only going sit back and watch, and only crack down on the ligit players...there's about a 2% chance this could even happen, but it would work, if the had massive cancelations and we told them that was the reason we quit... they'd have to see things our way,and we be able to get our acounts back cuz u have 3 months to get it before it's deleted. and how much u wanna bet some of the gil sellers are working for SE bring in more money to the company, just a thought, but as of now (if i remember correctly) they have over 1.5 million accounts... that's about $19,425,000 per month (it's less if u factor in the ppl with mules on the same account)
i don't think us being unhappy is going to figure into the money they're making...i'm glad we have the forums tho, and i dont like them any more then any of u, ^^ maybe we can find a way to bring them down, mpk or another way(make their jobs living hells). i personally havn't had problems with them, other then AH prices shooting thro the roof, (remmy when mith kabobs were only like 2.1k then they shot up to 3.2k that's not that big of a deal, but i've notice this on higher priced items.) too bad pvp isn't more free'd up, cuz that would be entertaining ^^
