Also hilarious that a word like 'sexy' is filtered. Was there ever a point in time where women blushed and men got angry when you used that word in public? Maybe in the early 1890's? I can understand filtering the more vulgar profanity, like the f-word, the c-word, and part of me doesn't even mind filtering the s-word that refers to defecation, but 'sexy'?
Seriously? And 'damn', too? Jesus Christ. Holy ******* ****, it even filters out 'crap'?! What the **** is this?
The quadruple asterisk solution is also pretty half-baked. I know I asked for asterisks instead of the infamous @#%^ gibberish, but I was expecting asterisks equal to the number of characters in the original word. I'm guessing it was done this way due to time constraints, but it's pretty devastating when the filter is this... thorough.
Don't think I've ever seen a forum with a language policy this strict. I'm quite baffled, really, and I feel that the users are being bumped aside in the neverending quest for more phat lewts. I get that AdSense is crucial to the survival of the forum, but how do all the other forums stay alive? I have yet to come across a forum that actually censors the words 'crap', 'sexy' and 'damn'. I mean, Jesus Christ, did they write that list back when they were writing The Ten Commandments, too? I can't imagine that this forum is the only forum relying on AdSense moneys. How about phoning Google CS and asking them what's up with the Victorian vocabulary?
