2 Questions please:

1. Is 1 point in Critical Mass worth it, and having thus only 4/5 in Mind Mastery? or should I leave CM and have 5/5 in MM? How much Intelect will I have at high levels so that MM is such a great talent?

2. What does PoM mean in all your posts? I guess its a spell i haven´t got yet? I am only l29 at the moment.

Thanks.

My build is this one

Hey, if im rocking and double criting sometimes with my arcane build... why should i change it? People in my guild mention to me that it would be best if i changed it. Ive been arcane since lvl 30 or so... now im lvl 64. no issues no nothing. I can fight most elementals my current build is 51/4 arcane frost.

Can someone shed the light and explain why should i have to change?

I think this is good for lots of non-crit damage. I'm not 70, but this is my plotted course at that level.

arcane/fire

i'm very new to being a mage, but i want to be mainly focused as a fire mage. would the 30 Fire 21 Arcane set be best for a fire mage in pvp?
thanks

Here's a lvl 66 3 minute :-) burst damage:

Arcane

Arcane Subltety 2/2
Arcane Focus 5/5
Magic Absorption 5/5
Arcane Concentration 5/5
Arcane Impact 3/3
Arcane Fortitude 1/1
Presence of mind 1/1
Arcane Mind 5/5
Arcane Instability 3/3
Arcane Potency 3/3
Arcane Power 1/1
Spell Power 2/2
Mind Mastery 5/5

Fire

Impact 5/5
Ignite 5/5
Flame Throwing 2/2
Incinerate 2/2
Burning Soul 2/2 or can use burning Soul 1/2 and Pyroblast 1/1

Note with this Build, +crit gear will really boost your damage, especially with spell power selected. So with pom + spell power + trinket + pyroblast + crit gear, you will get a fairly massive crit damage. I have recorded my personal best crit with lvl60 epic gear as 42??. Not a bad build just bear in mind, this is very mush gear dependent and obv crit gear + a fairly high intellect count will be a massive help.

Hello, I have a 46 level mage and I am trying to find the optimal allocation of points for spec in AOE. I was told Fire/Arc Spec was the best. Could some one please give me their input? I tend to do a LOT of grinding so I figure it will increase my xp if I can kill more foes in less time. I am still fairly new to the game as I've only been playing 2 months. I do have the Burning Crusades Expansion so whatever works let me know.

For PVP... if you want to get all fancy...

Fire:

Imp Fireball 5/5
Impact 5/5
Ignite 5/5
Flame Throwing 2/2
Imp Fire Blast 3/3
Incinerate 1/2 (Just cuz you need a point)
Pyroblast 1/1 (for Blast Wave)
Critical Mass 3/3
Fire Power 5/5
Pyromaniac 3/3
Combustion 1/1
Empowered Fireball 5/5
Dragon's Breath 1/1

Frost:

Imp Frostbolt 5/5
Ice Shards 5/5
Frostbite 3/3
Imp Frost Nova 2/2 (for shatter)
Shatter 5/5

This gives you insanity. Trust me, it works wonders when you have at any given time from 25-150% (shatter plus unlucky and non working combustion lol) to crit someone. your fire spells are your best range asset. But, I am one of those, "GLASS CANNON MY ***" types. Imagine throwing a frost nova + blast wave + dragons breath + arcane blast(s). Tell me this isnt absolutely insane and ill show you a liar.

I forgot about Ice Lance... oh and fire blast in case one survives. oh and blink to evocation if no mana.. sh*t...

If anyone do not survive the barage you listed and that is considering that you do not get CCed or silenced. Then that person deserves to be a free kill, under current circumstanecs that barrage is going to at the most take out 3.5 k if your lucky (blast-wave, dragon breath, arcane blast all crit). Using shatter is a plain waste of frost nova unless you are frost mage who has gotten over the changes to DR timers within frost-bite. A fire pvp built has to go all out and will create a mage that will eat a few hits while burning up opponents. I actually find ice-lance more useful specced fire as I can most of the time throw 3 at the target (note that its dispellable in pvp so the mileage varies)
#140 Jul 18 2007 at 12:08 PM Rating: Decent
Correct. I was just being idealistic. And no sadly, that is not 3.5 k damage considering blast wave breaks 1k consistently (non crit) with me, Dragons Breath 1.3 (non crit), and Fireblast I've hit as high as 1.5 (non frickin crit). That's a bit under 4k. Ehh, your still right though, that doesn't kill them. Now crit those spells. Add ignite. 2.2k + 2.8k + 3.2k = 8.2k. The thing about frost for me, is that the benifits of chill effects really helps me out in PVP. Shatter just ensures my 20% crit chance to be a lot higher. That spell cycle is used when you AND a couple others are going against a group of enemies, because 5k dmg AOE + 8k to one target is useful when you have a group on group mini-battle. I should have specified. I wish I could link my damn stuff though from armory but I have no idea how. Boo. Oh and arcane explosion hits pretty hard too! I had forgotten.

Also, now that I think about it i usually throw up a mana shield when I evocate; sometimes I only get about half way through before I lose it. So I guess my ideal version wasn't realistic. Hope I wasn't too vague.

so I'm curious is it wise for you then to put all your talents into one tree. cause all mine are in frost is that a bad thing. or is it ok to focus only on one.

I posted this on another thread and decided to ask for advice on the thread that is dedicated to the topic instead. Go me.

I have rerolled on a PvP server, Undead mage. Currently low level so I am looking for a build that will serve as both PvE as well as world PvP and some BG. I was thinking an Elemental build something like this:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mage/talents.html?0050000000000000000000055000231030303125010002504020310031010000000

Or perhaps moving the points from IAM 5/5 to Ignite 5/5? I realize this will mean I'm gonna have to get a lot of MP/5, +Spi and +Int gear but I planned on doing that anyway.

He had it, I let him keep it. Like I said, the build still sucks, but I know what he's trying to do.

Imp. FS sucks, I know.

Cold snap is for getting frost nova back when you have to nova more than once in a short amount of time. Its really helpful if your AoE grinding as a frostey.

Not just nova, but any of your frost spells (ice block, ice barrier, as you stated frost nova, water elemental, cone of cold)

Hey Baron, can you help me out? In the beginning you said you'd go over levelling builds and which race is best for a mage, but I couldn't find it. :'(

Maybe it's because I ride the short bus, or maybe because my eyes are frosted over being a lvl 22 Frost Mage.

Why am I Frost at level 22? Cuz I want to WSG and Imp Blizzard seriously f's up all the alliance trying to grab our flag. Not to mention Frostbite. If they can't move, they can't steal our flag or catch our flag runner.

Frostbite also helps me in PvE... I'm lazy and just like to target the mob and keep pressing my Frostbolt button. Frostbite procs almost every single pull (maybe not on the first bolt, but on one of them). It pisses me off when it doesn't, then I have to push my Frost Nova key and strafe and then I can cast another Frostbolt to kill the mob. Whew, that's hard work.
