wut do u guys think of this build?

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mage/talents.html?2050050301230150300100050500001000000000000000530320011004000000000

its supposed to kill fast for pvp. so basically ur casting order would look something like:

nova -> AP -> PoM -> Pyro -> FBlast (at this point if target is like down to last 20% health, just finish off with Ice Lance, CoC, and AE.

if still semi-alive-ish... -> CSnap -> nova -> IL -> CoC -> FBlast (cd probably up) -> AE...AE...

the APed pyro is supposed to have around 50+% chance to crit, and does around 4k damage + a 1600 tick from ignite, so thats 4k + 800 more every 2 seconds. im assuming usually people have around 6k or something life? the Fblast is probably still on AP since AP lasts 15sec, so the FBblast does 900 at least. and the AP probably still lasts, so yea target most likely dead in 10sec or so. cept maybe pally bubbles...

i think that might work? a problem though, u can only own one person every 3 min or so hahah. yea. comments?

personally.. im fire spec.. i love blazing speed in battlegrounds when i have low life. although i still have 4 frost points and plan to get more once i have dragons breath b/c there are quite a bit of areas where fire spells just dont work.

Hey, I'm looking for a level 19 Mage Twink spec. I don't have any +fire, +frost, or +arcane dmg gear. Could anyone help me ^^? Greetz, Thaspraya

So what options have opened up for the specs with tbc revision of the talents? I notice none of the post 2.0 additions seem to be considered here.

What I was wondering is with the original post are you going to add any possible Specs that include final like a 2/18/41 that includes Water Elemental and makes your fire spells ignite among other things.

Well, i just love to pwn PvP with fire(this is a great spec for air fighting:P)
Just check out this one.

spec

You can have nice kills on the ones hovering over with flying mount like this:
Go above him(target range or more) dismount, slow fall, arcane power, presence of mind, (any other trinket buff or item), pyro, fireblast, cone of cold, and icelance if he's still alive :) With this spec i usually kill them in one run.
Btw, if you're expected down, just hit invis after finishing the job and go for cover and mount back up :)

My current built is deep frost with arcane up to ICS, but now I want to try something else to see how it goes. This is what I'm thinking of changing my spec to http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mage/talents.html?2300350302200140330120000000000000000000000000505320010215010200000

any comments on it would be appreciated.

how bout this spec im goin for the omg shatter crit combined with DB so my ice lance is effective at 70 as well as my fire damage http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=ki0Vc0fzxIziZxgMzf00o its probably pretty bad idea but hey im not going to go through with it yet i may not do it at all if i hear its bad but for the moment im goin pure fire till 70 and than respec.

this build emphasizes ice damage and very ugly crits. because of the emphasis on arcane talents, it is also nice for a larger mana pool and, of course, improved CS. i use this build for mostly PvE but have also done a bit of PvP with it. for pure PvP there are (of course) better builds. but this is a very viable and flexible configuration that will work in most situations and instances. the lockdowns and crits, along with the slow effect and extra range make PvE nice and tidy. the improved arcane missile also gives a decent attack alternative in case you get counter spelled (unless it's improved), or come across mobs with resistance to frost.

pvp often looks something like this:
sheep > (dampen magic > fire/frost ward, as necessary) > AP > frostbolt > PoM > (CS against casters) > run in or blink for frost nova > frostbolt > CoC > fireblast > cold snap > frost nova > frost bolt > fireblast > CoC

this series of attacks attempts to maximize bonus damage from crits and crit bonuses from lockdowns.
#116 Mar 30 2007 at 8:02 AM Rating: Decent
oh... and i totally forgot to mention that not only do the lockdowns give you bonuses to crit, but clear casting does as well. which means you'll be crit'ing a LOT for a TON of damage (due to additional crit and damage bonuses from arcane)!!!

if you add it all up, it's actually quite impressive -- even more so if you add in AP and +damage gear.

Sup all.

Heres a question.. people are telling me that my build is not the best choice. It seems to be working just fine for me. So the question is. Is going FULL ARCANE a bad thing? And if so, Why?
This is what I have now.

hya am new here and read somewhere that new build of fire/frost are good as well.
Am lvl 28 now and focussing on fire.
I don't like arcane much and prefer to use fire bolt (or frost bolt if i want the target slowed) instead of arcane missile. Arcane explosion i don't use either, prefer frost nova.
I dont do any/much PVP but am interested in getting targets down quick.

So here is what i would like to do :
Fire is my focus (cos i want to get 3000+ dps)
imp fireball 5/5
ignite 5/5
flame throwing 2/2
improved fire blast 2/3
incinerate 2/2
pyroblast 1/1
burning soul 2/2
master of elements 3/3
critical mass 3/3
fire power 5/5

frost to also be able to do good damage
imp frostbolt 5/5
elemental precision 3/3
ice shards 5/5
improved frost nova 2/2
shatter 5/5

arcane to get some resistance of my own and lower the ones of others
arcane subtlety 2/2
imp arcane missiles 3/5 (a loss of 3 points but i need 5 so...)
magic absorption 5/5
arcane fortitude 1/1 (is this one better or should i put a point in frost warding that increases armor also with 15%)

I know a lot of people go more into arcane to get arcane meditation or even PoM but do u need mana regen whilst casting so bad, i could just use manashield on me or frostnova on others and then use a mana potion ?

I just thought freezing target first and then use fire dps with the 50% increased chance of crit would be fenomenal.

Any ideas ?

PvP-wise it's no longer optimal to pick Improved Arcane Missiles, and hardly anyone does anymore; if a melee class is hammering on you, they can usually interrupt it anyway or you'll die. On other classes there usually is a superior choice - especially with the non-interruption set bonuses coming up. Also new spammable skills have been introduced that don't require you to stay put.

Better is:

2/2 Arcane Subtlety
3/5 Arcane Focus.

I tought of this build for all around use. Tell me if it's bad.
I think the frost points are well spent for the 50% chance of critical hit
Also I have PoM and pyroblast so give me your toughts please

Thanks it really helps me a lot but I can't see the use of +6% crit chance on AE. It feels weird, there has to be better arcane points to spend on.
