Sent in a suggestion to Blizz...Follow

I sent in a new suggestion to Blizz, new to me at least, and I'm hoping it actually goes lives some day. It's probably been suggested already, but hell, couldn't hurt to mention it.

Dungeon/raid difficulty option: Gear scaled. This setting would be intended for "old" content. Currently I would qualify this as upto and including Cataclysm content.

The intent is to allow level 90s, for example, to do a dungeon/raid run with other lower level players and retain the bulk of the difficulty/challenge that these adventures provided at the appropriate level/gear ranges. No, it wouldnt be perfect, but the design could/should be near enough to be usable and enjoyable.

Not everyone wants to plow thru old content constantly do they? Guild "fun run" nights could be sooo much more interesting this way. i welcome your thoughts on this idea.

Also, what things have you guys suggested to Blizzard? Other than to stop drinking the kool-aid or nerfing your favorite class... (lol)

It's been suggested numerous times, I think. I also kind of remember they said they like the idea. But they are not certain if the amount of work required to makes this work would be justified by the usage by the players. I have no link to a bluepost or something though.

Edit for a missing word.

The problem is, there are players who are not as skilled at the game who just want to play and have a little fun who ENJOY going in with higher gear than what was meant (for example, 476-489 in Heroics), some people who just want to get their daily Rep, people who are just trying to max out their 2nd/3rd/4th character's Valor for the week, etc.

They're not going to want the added challenge, because it'd turn a 5 minute run into an almost 15 minute one.

If you want a challenge, there's always the Challenge Modes (which do scale your gear down). These are not available for raids, but meh.

The only other thing I can suggest is that you save your gear and don't get rid of it when you upgrade so that all of you can put your 463s back on for Normals, 489s back on for ToT, etc.

I'd like to be able to scale down to level and quest with friends. SE has this very same option in FFXI.

That would be awesome, yes.

I think Blizz once said the tech is possible, they just didn't see enough of a need, given that they have things like Recruit-a-Friend and the fact that leveling is so quick and easy nowadays, that one spends very little time in the 1-85 areas, that it wouldn't really be worth the cost to implement or something like that.

Yea I remember reading this. My argument back would be: I only have so many character slots per realm, I already have max slots taken and do not wish to delete to level with a friend. Because said friend(s) are not going to have fun playing a MMO alone.

Now with the "server" merge, ideally, we will get x3 slots to play (max slots for each realm, make new toons on one of the merging realms...). But there is only so many ways to play a class before you have already "done it."
Being able to take my cap toon and be at BoA level character of a new character would help them and not just run them through everything and hope they learn how to play the game during the learning levels :3
