How does EQ2 differ from EQ? is it a total different gamming experience, or just little tweeks that have changed?

It is an entirely different game set in the same world.

From the crafting system to the class & sub-class system, from the quest system to the spell lines and abilities of the classes, from faction & the mob "con" system to the geography of the land itself, from A to Z almost everything has changed.

But these changes have not been without reason. Many things, like creature aggro, the mob con system, or player vitality have been re-designed or even created from scratch so that the casual player can succeed as well as the hard-core gamer.

Others like character modeling and annimations or spell effects and terrain details have been "dressed up" so that they are more attractive in this highly detailed, graphicly advanced world.

Still others, like the crafting system, have been expanded so that they are more meaningful and enjoyable as stand alone aspects of this vast and complex game world.

Even the game tutorial, which takes place aboard a ship that later deposits you on a convenient secluded desert island has been carefully designed and constructed to help you excel as a player.

So what has stayed the same? Many of the mobs are the ones you remember, although they look a bit different now. If you enjoyed killing gnolls and orcs in EQ, you will still get lots of chances to do so here. There are also still countless undead to be removed from this plane of existance along with countless bear, wolves and deer to be culled. There are even the perennial bats, rats and snakes that kept us all busy at the lower levels.

Many of the places you loved in EQ are still around. There is still a Qeynos and a Freeport. The commonlands, the Karanas, Feerot, Everfrost, Rivervale and even Nek Forest still exist and with the DoF expansion, the Desert of Ro is again available to stalwart adventurers.

Most important though, in spite of all the changes, or maybe because of them, the game is immersive and addicting from the moment you leave the character creation screen until the moment you log out and your wallpaper re-appears on the monitor!
