Losing its edge, or an isolated incident?Follow

Allakhazam has been my fantasy-world Bible for the last 5 years on EQ1. It has been awesome - a very valuable and trusted tool, especially the "Items Lookup (Name)" feature.

I've switched to EQ2 and am finding it lacking. I've deleted several items because Allakhazam listed them as junk, when I find they're not junk at all. I'm still at low levels so I guess this isn't a major. For example an Orc Tooth is not junk. It's used for the Orc Mastery Quest.

Is there a forum where we can report errors?

I think what the information to make this a better site is here: http://eq2.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=19&mid=1125419187125452649&num=7

OR you could scroll down a bit to the "call to..." post

IMHO, the EQ2 forums here have never gotten a level of attention equal to that shown on the EQ side. This may be because we are both yopunger and smaller than the 6 year old jaggernaut or it may be because the Alla admin staff for EQ2 is smaller, the reason(s) could be one or more of any number of things...

I honestly don't know what your choices are at this time except to keep your options open by seeking data in several places. Ogaming and several other sites have a wealth of information available and can fill many holes. This is not an ideal solution, I know. I too would prefer to make this my first and only stop but When I'm in the moment, I need to know what I need to know!

Regarding the reporting of errors, I would IM an admin with anything you find. Home page of these forums should giove you a list of who does what.

Regarding your current issue, most items in game will give you a decent description that should give you a clue as to whether or not you really need to store that item. Your orc tooth for example should have told you it "could be studied to learn more about the creature it came from", or some such...

As a general rule of thumb, SOE has recently taken all of the "gross" mob drops out of the game and replaced them with kinder / gentler trash drops. So, you can now be pretty sure that when you find a giant tooth or a goblin eye, it has a more important use then fast coin.

And finally, you mentioned deleting several items because you thought they were trash... why would you delete anything with resale value? The lore items that come off of mobs can all be sold to NPC merchants OR to other players. Money is hard to come by in this game, even moreso at the early levels. Do yourself a favor and collect the reward on everything you can!

Easy to figure where the bulk of the Alla staff have been sent...to the huge player base of WoW.

There's probably 10 times more staff on that side of the fence...if Alla has a staff that big. I don't really know.

Good business sense is to go where the money is. Where would you focus drawing in paying premium members...from a few hundred EQ2 forumites, or several thousand WoWites?

I've always felt like the official EQ2 forums get all of the trafic. As far as item databases, WoW has downloadable mods that actually transfer loot/drop/item information & statistics from the players experience to the a data pool that gets sorted & posted (WoWreader).

Also, I dont think allakhazam has staff that goes out and catalogues item & quest information, I think they rely heavily on submittals by players.

My guess would be bag space :)

This time last year Alla had to make a choice between EQ2 and WoW, which one to focus on. They went with WoW. It has worked out REALLY well for them (being that WoW has been the numbers success it is) but for us fans of both EQ2 and Alla it hurts.

Alla is a good backup resource, but there is better out there for EQ2....
