I know you have to get the new expansion to go into RvR castle sieges. But do you need Trials of Atlantis to go into Darkness Falls?

Darkness Falls is part of the Original DAoC, so to play there you do not need Shrouded Isles or Trials of Atlantis. DF was not included on the original DAoC CD, but was worked into a patch download within 6 or so months after DAoC's release.

As for the new expansion, "New Frontiers", it is not available yet, infact it is starting a very limited beta this week with the games team leaders. When the the RvR expansion is released however, it will be made available as a free download like the housing expansion, "Foundations."
