Is there any significance or benefit to getting/gathering realm points for yourself when you are only level 24 or so?....or is it not beneficial to get them at that level?
Can some please tell me either way, positive or negative and the reasons why?

Yes there is !!
Each Realm Rank Level that you reach will grant you 1 Real Skill Point(RSP), and with each of these points you can train a unique ability. Those abilities vary from class to class.

Furthermore will you receive an additional +1 to all your skills when you reach the next Realm Rank.
You start with RR 1L0 upon reaching 2L0 your char will get +1 to all your skills.. with RR 3L0 you will have +2 to all skills.. and so on till you reach RR 10L10, which then gives you a total of +9 to all skills.
So Realm Ranks are a very important aspect of DAoC, getting more RSP and gaining one RR after the other helps you to define, build and strengthen your character.
