Hello all just installed the Game, was wondering if you guys have a kind of "newbie server" or anything like that?

Nope, no newbie server.

You have two options. High pop servers, with more people to more easily find groups, and given aid. Or low pop server that may or may not have lots of lower level players to group with.

Normally high pop servers would serve you better. With the /20 and /30 leveling (insta 20th and 30th level characters for those who already have a 50th lv character) you will find it hard to find low level characters to group with. So your 1-20th might be solo.
Find a good guild. They can help you with lowbie equipment and general questions, as well as possibly having low level alts that you can group with.

Server types are normal (ie RvR), PvP (ie get one shotted by any purple level guy the second you ding 10th lv - sucks), or Coop (Gaheris - all three realms open, no RvR). You honestly should go to an RvR server first to see what its like. I prefer Gaheris as I would rather travel and PvE than RvR, but experiencing RvR is something everyone should do.

by that sidepic you look like an EQ head. if that is the case, i can tell you that if you are not in a strong guild/alliance in DAoC you will get frustrated rather fast.

guilds in EQ are nice, but not required. in DAoC i would almost say they are very much required for several reasons leasts of all PvE, but really supper important for RvR.

a high pop server would be a nice place to start as it has been around for a while, and more ppl will be willing to help out a true newbie.

Thanx for the welcome! I have some RL friends that have initiated me into their guild.. Rogue Element. I am now a level 5 Apprentice Mentalist on the "Path of Harmony." So far so good!

One problem tho...Why doesn't this game Install itself into one directory? I mean wouldn't it be easier if it was coded that way rather than install in 3 seperate folders? I just installed ToA and all my settings are gone. In fact, I have 2 different Icons for loading, the original/SI icon and now the ToA icon...I'm now uninstalling and reinstalling into one folder under DAoC and see if that'll work...Just seems like a hassle :(

yes it is a bit cumbersome getting things up and running, but NEVER do a default install on any program. always tell it were to install, that will reduce the risk of problems like you discribe.

hmm path of harmony = hibby?

yeah, ive been playing EQ since beta, did a little bit of DAoC when it released, then my ISP started blocking thier IP and ports. i had no choice but to leave then.

new ISP, so i now have access to the game again, and i can tell you the CS, game machanics, eye candy, playability, stability are all way better then EQ.

few things you will note though. little more cumbersome so far as getting around, chatting, and the UI is not as user friendly as EQ.

you will miss the raid window and guild window, but will get used to it. i still miss them, but im lazy about reading though long lists of names.

the trade skills blow EQ away as they really work. also 90% of the classes can solo well, and even the other 10% can solo to an extent unlike EQ were you have classes that can not solo past a specific level range. this is nice, if you just want to go someplace different and hunt on your own for a little bit. i am a casual gamer so i play 1-3hrs max at a time 4-5 days a week.

even with that little bit of game play things come fast enough and are not boring. if they get boring, move to a new area and things will change fast enough for you.
