been away for over 2 years, and back then if you alt+tabed out it would crash the game. is there a way around that now?

You can now play in windowed mode as well as use the ALT+TAB option. Catch is you have to have the Shrouded Isles expansion to do it.

Original DAoC >> Shrouded Isles >> Foundations (free download) >> Trials of Atlantis >> Frontiers (not yet released will be free download though).

You do not need Shrouded Isles to use the Foundations expansion, nor will you need it for the up and coming Frontiers expansion.

ok so i take it when i did the bigger 98M patch i got Foundations along with my original DAoC.

ok so if i want custom UI, i need SI expansion.

ToA i hear has a new graphic engine? how much improvement is there and how much system lag did it add?

by what i read you are saying Frontiers will be free like Foundations was?

also were do i go for technical help? i checked out Mythics homepage, but they just basicaly list FAQ for tech, not a real tech forum to post specs and get feedback.

i have a rather beefy system at home, but i seem to be getting some oddities with my mouse curser and some unexpected system lag.

thanks again for all the info.

Actually the 98MB patch did not contain Foundations, you'll have to download that separately and install it. Check out this link on the Herald for places you can download it, along with the documentation for the expansion.

As for the custom UI, you will need to have Trials of Atlantis for that feature. ToA's new graphic engine did spruce up a lot of the graphics, from water, buildings, ground, it all looks better. As for performance lag, I personally don't feel it is better, for me lag is about the same as SI and my system is fairly new (2.6Ghz, 1G RAM ect). Now the lag I notice is not slide show lag, but on large raids it is noticable at times. But not game stopping.

Mythic has mentioned that the Frontiers expansion will be free like the Foundations expansion. And it really has to be, since the expansion is a major overhall of RvR. Read more about that at this link.

For tech help the only place offically is the Herlad's tech section. You may have to e-mail them with your information in order to solve your problem though. Another place you might find some tech info is the Vaults Tech Tavern, dev's have been known to frequent those forums and randomly answer questions.

well looks like ill not be getting it then. i refuse to deal with 90% of those companies. im a little disapointed that Mythic does not offer the download via patcher or from their official site.

anyone have it on CD or FTP i can pull from.

You can order the CD from Mythic for the foundations upgrade. It is fairly cheap (under $10) if I remember right. They also seem to send it out free if you order SI from them (at least they sent me one free when I did a couple of weeks ago).

ok thanks.

i was able to find it out there and it seems to work well, but have not really messed with that part of the game as im still getting my feet wet again.

trying to figure out how to get to the skelly in mirkwood im supposed to talk to for my level 11 upgrade quest. loads of purple+++ mobs around his spawn point. oh well, maybe ill just level and see if i can skip that part for a bit.
