Leoma's Sight Quest ProblemFollow

Please bear with this rather long explanation, but I'm about to go completely crazy with frustration.

I have been having a problem completing the Leoma's Sight Quest for (min) Level 11 in Camelot Hills. The details of the quest are at:

I got the quest at the same time as my playing partner of the same level (11 Cabalist, and 11 Reaver). We did all the steps listed here:

"I will need you to venture to Salisbury Plains and obtain for me a sample of an Eyebright plant. You will need to kill a brownie nomad to obtain this. They can be found NE of the guard tower past West Downs. You will then need to find a filidh to the North of West Downs and kill it obtain a [flask of elixir]."

Leoma says, "Once you obtain these items, please return to me immediately. The potion can be made, and I will at last be able to have some of my vision restored. Oh yes and [one other thing] before I forget..." And then she says something about not needing to go to find her nephew Petran (who she previously mentioned she had asked to help her).

At this point, I have in my inventory the flask and the Eyebright plant, but my partner does not (I previously recall that when we did a quest we had gotten "together" (i.e. we both talked to person X, both had it in our journals, and both completed the steps simultaneously). And my next step in the journal is to return the items to Leoma. HIS next step (one number less in the journal) is to go talk to Petran (who, if you see the quest at the above link, is mentioned... but doesn't seem essential). I never got that step at all--which normally would be OK, as the quest steps don't always merge perfectly for separate characters, especially of different classes...

ANYWAY, I cannot make this potion to give to Leoma, and wonder if it has anything to do with the disparity in our quest steps. It says to USE one item on the other, and the potion will be made. No matter what I've tried, I cannot use one or the other item... I've tried dragging one onto another, (like dying cloth) selecting each item first, I've tried dropping one at a time and targetting it and pressing the USE key (which I've never used before, actually... it is the "E" key supposedly). I've tried giving either one of them to her. I've tried putting them in a trade window with my partner hoping to use the "combine" element but I cannot give them to another player... they jump back into my inventory when I put them in a trade window.

Any thoughts? Should we try to find said Petran and hope that it'll all work out? Will my partner probably need to get those two items by killing the necessary creatures a second time? What do they mean USE one on the other... sigh... What?

Very Perplexed, and would appreciate anyone who might be able to help...

To solve this quest do the following.
Take the eyebright plant, place it on your quickbar (make note of the # (number) slot that it goes into, then press e and the corresponding#.
The eyebright plant will change into the potion and now appear in your knapsack.
You can now give the potion to Leona and she will reward you with something small and if youre patient and answer correctly she give you a magical item.

Also, for your information, you need not go to the suicidal Salibury plains to kill the brownie, you can find them down the road to the left going over the PK bridge.
