I not sure if a 49 mage can solo in crystal caverns, but the geos there drop alot of gems. And are easy single pulls. I remember I used to pull alot off pp in gem drops from there on my necro but can,t remember what level I was when I was soloing there.
One more thing is I can't remember if they run at low health or not.

A naked mage could solo in Crystal Caverns fairly well and make out like a bandit.
Rathe Mountains would be nice and easy. Possibly rockhoppers in Dawnshrouds peaks. The mobs at the entrance to the hole also drop some fairly decent vendor trash items.

I'll try a new twist on the farming zones.
If you have Omens, you might try soloing in Dranik's Scar. Of course, it won't be farming like in Crystal or lower zones, as the zone can be exp'd at your level (nuking the possibility of engaging en masse). It also hinges on whether you have the power to hunt here; the majority of everything you'd fight can proc for 400, but since I'm not familiar with mage pet HP at your level, I couldn't tell you whether you'd survive.
Anyway, if you can get a good consistent hunt going, you'll find a few plat on every corpse, plus common vendor trash items for a few plat, and gems every so often. You may even get one of the rare drops, one of the augments, which you can sell to players for a few K (depending on server).
I didn't start doing omens until I was 62, well past DS exp level, so I can't give any experience hunting at 49. However, I am not 65 and farm mobs 4 at a time routinely, until I have killed maybe 40 mobs per session. I usually make several hundred plat (and have totaled 5 augs).
One more thing.. I wouldn't call it quick, for reasons i've mentioned about level.. but it's something different than green-farming I guess. If it were me i'd be doing this just to get some exp while I'm at it (and drops with utility).

I always found Lower Guk to be a nice farming area. Since I'm a necro, dead side of course, but you could farm most of the lower-level areas in LGuk and make some cash - a lot of it is from phosphorus powders, Fine Steel (yes I bother farming FS) and any gems/jewelry you might get, as well as the gear (obsolete, granted) that's down there. At your level it may also be good exp.
