I heard a rumor that all these new patches were because some serious game exploits were found.

Does anyone know what these exploits were?

Ahem...

Divulging or discussing exploits is grounds for having your account suspended and banned.

[We've been over this ground before Smiley: frown]

I would not be surprised if there was something like that, that needed fixing.

And you'll never catch an exploit if you dont open your eyes.

And is not a rumour its right up there on the front page of EQ LIVE with the patch notice

Every expansion, even the relatively painless ones, have been followed by a couple days of patching.

They may well be fixing exploits but they'd be patching even if there weren't horrible exploits just because any number of minor issues come up post release.

I wasn't trying to exploit the exploit, I was just curious at to what it was (posted during the patch so, even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have been able to use it).

Does anyone know of any exploits from the past that have been fixed? I am seriously curious as to what some of them were (past tense)

A couple (fixed) trade/duplication exploits from the past were:
Smiley: schooled An exploit that allowed you to duplicate items via the guild bank (I don't recall the details). The biggie there was people duplicated Radiant/Ebon crystals and got the best DoN rewards the day of release.

Smiley: schooled An exploit using insta-clicky potions where, by using some esoteric series of clicks you could turn a No Drop item into a potion, place it in the shared bank, log into another character and find the potion restored to its original staus and withdraw it, thus allowing you to trade No Drops between characters on a single account

Smiley: schooled An exploit using community tradeskill containers that allowed people to trade No Drop items between characters on different accounts (no idea on the details)

on drinal, a ton of high lvl top end guild toons got baned because of the guild bank duping.

they were duping meldstones

put one in the bank, withdraw a stack.

that would be a tremendous profit, since even today those stones go for about 10-15k each in bazaar.

normal tank shrouds shouldnt be that much hp but some clever peeps found a way to boast the hp beyond its intended design. this has now been fixed.

Heard that the first hotfix was because you could enter flagged/keyed zones in shroud from without the key/flag. dunno if it was true.

There was a way to get your mounts to work indoors (I discovered it by accident). They fixed it now =)

Did anyone actually get banned after the potion-clicky mess?
