I will have to be honest, I enjoy the playing mechanics and the job system much more on FFXI, however, the insane amount of asshats and morons has curved me from playing FFXI. DoD eases up the the being stuck with the class you created the character with a little, but it's still just not the same. I do enjoy EQ a lot though, don't get me wrong. The only problem I truly do have with EQ is how geared it is towards the end-gamers and not the casual player. But alas, it is my choice to be what type of gamer I want to, there is still plenty for casual gamers to do. So my complaints there are still not too great. Forgive me for lack of grammar and totally random thoughts, I only seem to post when I'm half asleep >.>

I'm a casual player and have no problems finding something fun to do.

I am a casual player as well. I play seven days a week and have never rand out of things to see or do. It what you make of it.

I tried playing FFXI because a friend who plays it bought it for me. I just couldn't seem to keep at it because I kept coming back to EQ. I didn't play past the 30 day free subscription. I guess once you go EQ you never go back? Smiley: smile

P.S. My friend who played FFXI has since ditched it because I convinced him to come to EQ instead. Smiley: lol

Well, I asked for a challenge, and a few straight days of wiping, agonizing long CRs and recoveries, and difficult runs have pretty much convinced me we got it. Looking forward to seeing all it has to offer.

Can you link you site so i can follow your adventures? i wish i had the time to join a raiding guild but the wife would have my head on a platter.

www.cestusdei.org --- I tend to only update when we have something significant to report though, not like, 'Well we've been farming this or tried this and died for the 800th time'.

That's whats so great about EQ. There's so much to do, wether you're a casual gamer or a raid and high end player. With 10 expansions there's plenty of places to explore and fight in. There's a guild for every play type from family/casual to high end raiding. You decide what you can/want to do and find like minded players to join or even solo.

There are players who have played for years and still aren't passed 50. They still have plenty to do and there is no need to rush to the end game. You don't have to be lvl 70 with hundreds of aa's and high end gear to have fun.

I love this game.

I'm with MentalFrog. Very well put. Simply, I like what I like, and especially like the expansiveness of EQ. I, and many others, i'm sure, could go on for hours, for pages, about this game, it's complexities, it's social and other aspects, discuss specific items, places, persons/things, events.. not to mention do things in game. There are those who have 1200 AAs and gear to boot, who perhaps would grow bored if no more expansions were released. But I'm very pleased with the fact that I will likely never reach the relative "end" of each expansion until there are many more; the thought of being able to progress infinitely, always getting better, able to top a mountain and say "Yess, I've been after this goal forever" only to see endless hills in the distance, is a very good feeling.

I've nothing against other MMOs, but would almost never play them, as I'm just amazed every day at this game's legacy.
