Um... Not to be obvious or anything, but doesn't a wipe involve getting killed?

um well yes and no since u can rez and reengage the target u were made stronger by knowing what went wrong the first time, and not repeating the same mistakes??

Hehe. Yeah, I can buy that. I think maybe something like: "You learn more from your mistakes then your successes" might be a bit more appropriate though.

I don't think anyone in this thread is talking about wipes on raids while figuring out the correct way to handle a particular event/mob. That would qualify. Most wipeouts in groups have nothing to do with learning anything, or getting stronger in any way. They're almost universally the result of someone doing something really really stupid.

If anything, it's the opposite of the above. Most group wipes occur because some people *don't* learn no matter how many times they make the same mistake. The guy who overagros with his caster, then runs around in circles instead of standing still. The guy who pokes his head into a room "just to see what's there". The guy who goes /afk while autofollowing the puller. The guy who goes afk in general, but doesn't tell anyone about it.

Wipes that are unrelated to group mistakes are usually things you can't learn from (or not much anyway). When you wipe becasue some a-hole decided to train your group, you didn't really learn anything. You just died. Only thing you can learn from that maybe is to put your group somewhere they are unlikely to be trained. Even then, you can still end up wiping. I've seen idiots train mobs to the most unlikely spots in zones.

Dunno. The comments just kinda sounded "wrong" to me is all.

None of the above, they are part of the game and we have to adjust to play it.

I think the most common and annoying reason for wipes are people that don't know what they whant.

Warriors that seem to think they are rogues in plate and thus buys dmg/offencive AA's instead of def aa's (what good is agro if U can't take the punishment).
Warrs that don't know their skillz to break mezz right.

Rouges that seem to think they can tank just because they can survive tanking a mob with fast heals and drain the cleric.

Clerics that seem to think they are wizzys/meles and forget to heal the tank.

Druids that don't snare beacause i will just nuke when he begins to run.
Druids that becomes insta wizzys once a cleric joins group and unmems all heal spells.

Slowers that don't know the diffrence between warrs and knights, plz note here a normal warr( warrs with epic 2.0 and psyco weapon from anguish don't count oki) will actually have to hit the mob be4 slow/debuff where knights can actually hold agro from slow on inc if they know their shizzle.

Casters that seem to think they are safe a million miles up a wall where the tanks can't get to em cuz he don't have lev atm.
casters that seem to think it will save em to run around in little circles (normally up walls and around buildings) when they get agro, while screaming "HLEP HLEP not the face not the face" with the warr chasing the mob and only hitting one outta 20 cuz the mob is moving at warpspeed and U don't have the right dist to mob.

UBAH peeps that group with lower peeps and count on pulling 5 is oki cuz the shammy can offtank 2 and just heal self while the warr holds agro on rest.

Tank not tagging of bard on inc and killing him on every other pull (yes i know they have fade but it cost mana).

People going afk without telling, People doing something else while playing (yes having a chanter watching pimp my ride have wiped my group).
People not paying attention to strats on raids/in groups (the leroy effect).
People not prioritizing in groups, who cares if the wizzy dies cuz he overnuked, keep the tank up omg, cuz if he dies the rest of teh group will die at warpspeed after he goes down.

People not being clear on what they mean IE:

Bazzarac tells the group: GTG guys?
Cleric_001 says: 75m.
chanter_001 says: FM.
Bazzarac tells the group: inc random_nastymob_001 stand and be ready.
Cleric says: but i am not ready.

In general there is very few things in the game I find annoying.
But people not knowing what they whant or are unclear about what they mean, or try to be something they are not (tanking wizzys and BS'ing warrs is not a hit) can get me up in the red area.

Anyway this is just my 2 cp. feel free to correct me any day.

Hey, they forgot Idiot Puller 2 groups over screwed the pooch and wiped not only his group but mine too while the moron was shouting "Train to Zone" while camping deep south in BoT or similar camp rather than standing and dying then waiting for corpse to pop in graveyard and getting a rez. The only time it really ticks me off is when half the zone wipes and the moron survives. This phenomenon is most often attributed to Rangers, my server calls it Pipps :)in honor of a ranger of the name who frequently trains whole zones trying to save his bumbling hide.

there are still idiots who feel that their insanely proc'ing weapon negates their need to taunt, and ebayers who havent figured out hot keys yet. I took aggro from an epic 2.0 70 warrior like he was a 13th level druid with a cracked staff and no mana. He figured he proc'd enough to hold aggro, so I had to taunt my *** off to save the slower and healer and rogue and I was the loser 63 warrior DPS hanging out tin the group with crappy weapons. That said it is usually Their damn fault for stealing aggro while taunt was down and not living 12 seconds before it comes back up:)

Love SK's except my Dipstick ex-wifes SK she never practiced FD, then one day I played her and wiped group not realizing she was just a Beast with better armor.
#111 Jul 13 2005 at 4:19 PM Rating: Decent
Wow, amazing im using crappy weapons (36% haste item and delay 19 and 20 with 3 DD proc's) and I can steal aggro off anything except Low HP aggro which is a death sentenc eunless those heals land in time, in which case I get the aggro right back. Its not that warriors are ineffectual, its that some warriors listen to advice on how to be a warriro from people who play enchanters. taunt early taunt often, tag the mob as often as you can, save your provoke until right before and emergency taunt and you will be very poplular with every cleric in your server. listen to other poeple who never played one and well, you'll be a rogue with good armor and crappy DPS. I encounter as many poorly played everything else that Im sick of people laying that crap on us warriors. If your a good slower tank or healer or puller your welcome in my group anytime, but if your gonna clas bash and generalize, its not the class or toon or gear its the moron behind the monitor. A guy who plays a crappy warrior usually sucks as a druid, rnager, pally, berserker, chanty, necro etc...

I so totally don't understand. I'm a 67 druid and can take aggro from any tank I want if I am trying. Since this usually means a very fast death for me, I usually try to balance my attacks with my mana and contribute to the group not slow it up with continual res's. I suppose an 70 ench can't do enough dps to really **** off a mob and draw aggro, so maybe thats your point.

I think all druids and rangers should snare immediately after tank engages.

If you're a caster, you are expected to DPS as much and as soon as possible. Preferably while mob is incoming and not yet engaged.

Healers should spam quick heals, because complete heals take way too long at 10 seconds.

Paladins should never stun. It adds no DPS.

Monks should always bring 2 or more mobs and FD them right at camp for easy pickings.

Everyone else should MAX DPS. OMGZ. The sooner the mob dies, the less damage it deals to everyone else for MAD XP.

If you're a tank and can't hold agro in a group like this, then you should promptly disband and /delete your account because you obviously don't understand how to play and probably never will.

thanks for being my entertainment pfunkman. when there is a shortage of idiots, you're right there to pick up the slack. with so much talk about who's to blame when a group wipes, I figured i'd outline the perfect group as a model for ppl to follow. but, surely you have something better in mind. *listening*

Rangers forget to snare much more often than I do.

If there is a cleric in the group that refuse to heal or makes the druid heal because they suck they should kicked and replaced with dps.

I don't mind healing ever but I should never have to heal if there is a cleric. If I do it usually becuase the cleric sucks or is afk.

Cleric spell lines are so much better than druid heals it is almost torture to make a druid heal when a cleric is in the group.
