My personal opinion based on 39 years of live experience and 5 years education in the field of psycology.

People who pay for their EQ Toon on ebay or similar most likely also

- pay to have their homework etc. done even if the're not to dumb to do it themselves
- pay a nanny although they don't work
- pay for sex even if the're good-looking
- pay a lawyer/contract killer to take care of me now *lol*

anyone wants to add to the list?

- sit in the most expensive seat at the ball/tennis/hockey game and spend the entire match asking basic questions about the rules
- use an all-terrain amphibious military vehicle to take the kids half a block to school

the one with the sports event sounds comparable. Would add that they ask every half hour: "Which one is our team?"

Tend to think they can spend money on significant others (including kids) instead of time....

Think that shortcuts are good enough even if the end result is demonstrably less than it could have been with a little craftsmanship....

Prefer to receive wisdom/knowledge from others instead of investing the time to achieve it themselves....

Take their opinions from others instead of reading about and thinking through issues....

This is kinda fun. :)

Probably the miscreant is very busy in RL with a successful business and profession. The kind of guy who spends time with the wife and kids.. neglecting no responsibilities he has lovingly accepted and enjoys fulfilling.

Has achieved a complete victory in the game of life and enjoys a little downtime after the kids go to sleep by playing a silly little game the type of which he has had an affection for since he was a child. An hour or two, here or there,

The sort of game that is populated by the type of person who wastes 24 hours of valuable RL time sitting in front of a computer getting "Rare" items or loads of fake money.

The plat buyer is the kind of person who can spend 15 - 30 minutes of his RL time to purchase the 24 hours of Uber Players wasted life.

Why be so mad anyway? I am not making you waste your life in front of a computer game screen for 8, 12, 24 hours at a stretch. Getting a rare item is your definition of success. Fine. My definition of success allows me to spend almost no time buying insane stretches of computer geek life.

So I play a little, having fun with my store bought pixels, while computer geek sits in front of his screen yet again. Hopeing that he'll be able to get enough plat and items in the next day to eventually sell to me for what amounts to my monthly Starbucks bill.

Heh, Annymouse you show a complete lack of understanding of the human psyche.

Any one who had successfully taken on the challenge of life in the way you describe, would also eagerly take on the challenge of EQ with gusto and enthusiasm and spend that "little bit of down time at the end of the day", proving once again that he is up to the challenge and master of his own destiny.

Rather than being a passenger, leaching off the skills of others.

  • is convinced that anyone who does well in EQ without plat-buying is a "no-lifer"
  • thinks that cheating is a valid means to an end in EQ and RL.

I personally know a lot of people like the ones you describe here.

But they usually have X-Box or the like, a wide screen monitor, every HQ joy/stick/pad/wheel available and play fast-paced grafical excelling highly entertaining games for the 1 hour a day they can spend on gaming because of the reasons you desdribed.

They do NOT play a game where getting the right group together for a high class LDoN all ready takes up the precious hour.

Probably think it's fine to use cheat codes in games where they're available - after all it just "speeds up the process" that all those "losers" have already conquered according to the rules.

It is a game, not a race. The purpose is to have fun. There is no end, no final victory. The fun is in developing your character(s), in making friends, in figuring out and beating encounters while there is still some risk of defeat.

Jumping ahead, skipping content, taking the easy way, failing to learn the basics makes you a lame player. Spending RL money on in game plat makes you a cheat. My opinion, of course.

Lots of people are power gamers with limited time. They're just good at the game.

Myself is such an unpower-gamer I even made the Kelethin newbie armor-quest at level 12 just for fun when I realized Half-Elves have the opportunity to do that actually AND the Kelethin and Freeport gear looks different(and getting an Orc Ribcage in CB was not as easy as I imagined).

I still wear parts of both sets and since I didn't sell many pieces at the Bazaar so far(even for 10p/piece) its nice to know I can dress to give certain stats a boost for some occasions.
