I usually look down on newbies who stand behind the guards in the newbie zone and ask for stuff but I leave them alone.
but Yesterday there did a Monk 8th lvl shout at the BAZAAR for a "decent weapon" I was about to go afk and don't usually start an argument without having time to finish it so I didn't comment on that but it was plainly disgusting to me.
As someone who spent hours of making studs, boning and metal rings from rusty weapons the hard way around lvl 10 (I even have some left and still sell them for 1p) and is hunting for pelts to make a living such whimps make me wanna go PvP for just 5 minutes.
Have players even on Firiona Vie become such low-life to beg in a place where EVERYBODY can obtain a complete set of gear for 50p?

I earned all of my plat the hard way. Well the easy way actually. When I first started off once I got to lvl 2 I started killing spiderlings and I kept the spiderling silks.
In about a hour you should have no trouble at all getting a stack and it sells like mad in the bazaar It's highly sought after for making leather padding. You should have no prob selling the stack for 100 plat which will enable you to buy all of your basic armor. The bad part about the bum above is that he prolly spent more time trying to get a freebie than he would have to spend farming the spiderling silk.

Well on Vie I buy the stack myself for no more than 60pp (need a lot for HM Backpacks)but I agree to weeblewobble that hunting for Spiders can give somone easily xp AND money from levels 1-15. Same goes for pelts but than even up to lvl 20.
Everyone who is to dumb for that should stick to Diablo.

Not to mention the various relativly low level tradeskill recipies that produce sellable items. padding and fishrolls come to mind. I generally wont bother with beggers, but for people asking how they can make money or earn gear; I like to take em out to shadeweavers, show em what mobs to kill, smack em on the *** and send them on their way. Many a noob has made a decent living off of shadeling silks and leather padding

I have seen Heady kiolas (sp?) which require a very low skill in brewing and are cheap to make bring as much as 5pp each. Seen 3 traders sachels of them get sold over night. Very easy way for newbies to make money for gear.

It isn't just that he's begging. It's his standard of what a "decent" weapon is that will leave you with your jaw dropping.
I offered a young monk a stave of shielding once and he sneered at it. Wonder what he expected? Tranq staff? Would that even be good enough anymore? (Incidentally that's the last time I offered anything to a beggar.)
It just makes me laugh, if I stayed irritable about this stuff I'd never log on.

I feel that people who stand around and beg need to find some other type of game to play. The whole object of the game is to level your character and see whats out there, isn't it? I never bother with beggers, but I cannot turn my back on a char who is asking for advice or a good place to hunt. Info isn't begging, but I have met people who say it is. I am also known to through a few bucks a char who asked for info or advice if I feel they are a serious gamer.

I have a simple rule. If someone begs from me, they get a "no. begging is rude, stop that." If they stop, I leave them alone. If they continue, or become rude, I get annoyed at them. Then we play "orc bomb" or "Sow the newbie when he's not expecting it up in kelethen..." So many interesting possibilities...
Killing someone in Kelethin is very easy if one has 700+ HP. Just say "follow me to the bank/guild/wherever" (REAL nasty chaps explain first how autofollow works *chuckle*) and 2 platforms later you jump over an edge where there is no bridge abroad. You just take the 600 HP fall (or nothing at all if you got safe fall high enough) and grin on the corps lying nearby.

Something I've done with a few beggers is to give them summoned "pet" toys. Very very few look at the Race:none part and just see the Damage:10 Delay:20 and a proc. I tell them the proc is a 150 point direct damage and will go off at level 8. A handy dandy little belt with +15 to a bunch of stats and HP+500. Add in a muzzle with 11% haste along with a full set of armor then tell them to go ahead and sell off all their stuff at the merchant due to the stuff they now have is a significant upgrade.
Granted when they try and equip the pet gear and they can't I sometimes get an unpleasant tell which gets /ignore 'ed right away.
