EQ2 Zone:Dire Hollow: Grim Tidings

This is the solo instance of Dire Hollow. It is accessed via a Nektulos quest from the NPCs at Timber Falls. It is located at 497, 2, -1141 in Nektulos Forest.

Once you enter the instance, you will randomly be placed in one of three scenarios. The mobs that spawn inside are dictated by which scenario you get, and each scenario has it's own theme.

SCENARIO 1 - Graverobbers

Normal Mobs:

  • a graverobber curseward, level 33-35
  • a graverobber extractor, level 33-35
  • a graverobber hauler, level 33-35
  • a graverobber lookout, level 33-35
  • a graverobber cleanser, level 33-35
  • a loot snapper, 33-34
  • a mudstrider, level 33-35

Rare Named Spawns:

All mobs in the zone make use of the zone's strange loot tables.

T'Raen and R'Veth are both healers. Both rarely spawn with one of the groups of three extractors; T'Raen in the crevice in the far east of the cavern, and R'Veth in the final room in the extreme north west of the cavern.

Handclamp spawns behind the frail wall near where R'Veth spawns, with a group of overcon loot snappers.

T'Raen, R'Veth, and Handclamp almost always drop a chest. Graverobber lookouts, cleansers, and extractors stifle.

All encounters in the zone of more than one mob contain over-con mobs (they have a down arrow).

SCENARIO 2 - The Corporeal Undead

Normal Mobs:

  • a scourge hound, level 33-35
  • a perished channeler, level 33-35
  • a perished sentry, level 33-35
  • a perished healer, level 33-35
  • a perished rogue, level 33-35
  • a perished legionnaire, level 36
  • a scab rat, level 33-35
  • a lesion rat, level 34-36

Rare Named Spawns:

All mobs in the zone make use of the zone's strange loot tables.

Master of the Hunt is a healer. He spawns randomly with a group of three terror hounds in the crevice to the far west. The terror hounds cast ward spells.

Incarnation of Rot is a nuker. He spawns randomly with a group of four perished legionnaires, who are all tank-types. He is extremely dangerous, and a very hard fight.

Gnaw spawns behind the frail wall near where the Incarnation spawns, with a group of overcon rats.

Master of the Hunt, Incarnation of Rot, and Gnaw almost always drop a chest.

Scourge hounds and terror hounds cast wards on their allies.

All encounters in the zone of more than one mob contain over-con mobs (they have a down arrow).

SCENARIO 3 - The Ghostly Undead

Normal Mobs:

  • a deathweave spider, level 33-35
  • a fallow shriller, level 33-35
  • a forgotten magi, level 33-35
  • a forgotten assassin, level 33-35
  • a forgotten guard, level 33-35
  • a guardian of the light, level 34-35
  • a disciple of the bolt, level 34-36

Rare Named Spawns:

All mobs in the zone make use of the zone's strange loot tables.

Dravix the Torchbearer is a nuker. He spawns randomly with a group of three Guardians of the Light in the crevice to the far west of the cave.

T'Volt the Sparkcaster is a nuker. He spawns randomly with a group of four Disciples of the Bolt in the final room to the northeast of the instance. He is extremely dangerous, and a very hard fight.

The totem the Disciples of the Bolt are worshipped is untargetable, and will nuke you periodically whenever you get close to it. Best to pull them away from it.

Dravix's Guide is a shining light hanging in the air where Dravix spawns. If all the Guardians of the Light die, the light goes out. It appears to have no other effect.

T'Volt the Sparkcaster and Dravix the Torchbearer almost always drop a chest.
