Description

Is everyone enjoying the warm days? Even the carrion worms are wiggling out of their earthen homes to enjoy a little sun! That must mean that it's nearly time once again for the egg-citing Egg Hunt Egg-stravaganza!

The rules are simple. Just collect "initial eggs" and trade them with your friends for different "combinations" ! Each egg has a letter inscribed on it. Your goal is to mix and match these letters to spell out certain words.

Rumor has it that a Windurstian hermit designed the game to repair his relationship with the Parliament of Patriarchs, which was very stern at the time...

Well, the truth of the rumor is debatable, but the fact remains that the egg hunt, which seems to be a simple game at first, actually requires the keen insight, negotiation skills, and far-reaching personal connections that are said to be necessary for a job at the Parliament of Patriarchs.

So get together with your fellow aspiring members of parliament (or adventurers) and gather the eggs for that perfect combination!

How to Play Start by collecting initial eggs, each inscribed with a letter.

The easiest way to do this is by speaking to one of the festival moogles in each area where the event is held, but you can only collect one egg each day using this method. If you are in a party when you speak with the moogle, you will have the opportunity to select the type of egg you want based on the initials of your party's other members.

You can collect even more initial eggs by trading other types of eggs you may have on hand to any of the moogles in the three nations. Just remember that these egg exchanges are also limited to one per day (per nation). How many initial eggs you receive varies depending on the quantities and varieties of eggs you trade, so if you are not happy with what you get once, keep trying!

Once you've collected enough eggs, start exchanging with other adventurers and try making a "combination." The most basic one is called a "First 3." When you have the three initial eggs necessary for this combo, trade them to one of the moogles and collect your prize!

After a "First 3," try building an "Initial Straight 8" or a "7 of a Kind." The more you make, the more presents you'll take home!

Don't forget that you'll have to trade in a "First 3" before you can trade in any other combos. Think of it as a sort of preliminary test!

And for those of you who are looking for a real challenge, try discovering different, more exotic combinations. The moogles are usually reluctant to give out any of their classified information, but maybe if you are persistent enough, one will let you in on a secret or two! Make it a point to talk to them as often as possible!

Please note that all "new adventurers" will be required to wait one Vana'diel day before being eligible to receive initial eggs.

Combination Examples First 3: The first three letters of your character's name

Event Locations Southern San d'Oria Northern San d'Oria Bastok Mines Bastok Markets Windurst Woods Windurst Waters

Festival Duration The Egg Hunt Egg-stravaganza will begin at 17:00 on April 6th, and last until 0:00 on April 17th (PDT).

Does anyone know what the drops do? I have green, yellow, clear, and red. I'm hoping these will be beneficial for doing my lvl20 smn avatar fights. Please help.

The Medicine Drops almost exactly reflect the element of gemmed rings [Ballance Ring (purple) = Dexterity]:
Black Drop = Instant Warp
Blue Drop = Mind +5
Clear Drop = Intelligence +5
Red Drop = Strength +5
Purple Drop = Dexterity +5
White Drop = Charisma +5
Green Drop = Agility +5
Yellow Drop = Vitality +5
These medicines only last for 15 minutes and you remain "medicated" for like an hour (meaning you can't take another medicine until it wears).

I have completed this event. all funishings and all the equiptment. i found all the info right here in this post.
all of it has been pretty much correct, although i havnt verified the alternate way to get the orphoric egg. i got mine by trading the element name on the correstponding day, as outlined above.
Fuzzywiz says that doing an inital 8 starting with the days first letter however, may or may not be correct.
There is one thing that this site doesnt tell you.
as people know, party eggs and coloured eggs give you free alphabet eggs, once traded to the moogle.
there is an egg however that when traded, will yeild 3 eggs at once. a lucky egg.
these eggs are dropped of crawlers in {The Boyada Tree}
Pretty nifty huh? i got 3 letter "O's"
word of advice, seeing as that egg is hard to get, i regard it as a waste unless you have completed the Opo Opo crown quest.

"secret combo"

"The "Secret Combo" (Wing Egg, Lamp Egg, Flower Egg)
These are all mog house furnishings. To get them you must trade abbreviations of controled areas to the moogle. If you trade V-A-D-E-L to the moogle, you will get the egg furniture of the nation that is in the lead for that week. It's usually easier then to trade G-U-S-T-A for (bastok) Lamp egg, R-O-N-F-A for (sandy) Wing egg, and S-A-R-U-T for (windy) Flower egg. If you trade the letters of an area not under any control you will be turned into a beastman.
Ex of costume effect: If you trade Q-U-F-I-M to the moogle and that area is under beastmen control, you will be turned into a beastman.
This is my experiance with how the secret combo works.
These eggs are Rare/Ex"

What do you recive from this combo?

Why hasn't this egg been given its own page yet? U can't find it at all by doing an Item Lookup. Let's get on the stick, alla. Only 3 days left in this event.

Happy Egg I had from last with 7 of a king.
Fortune Egg I had from last with 8 in a row, starting with Letter of Name.

Orphic Egg I got with Elemental Day(Iceday). Best to do it since you need the fewest letters.

Also, to activate the latent on the Orphic Egg, you must have a Bard Song on you. That is all.

To get the first prize set, you must trade the first three letters of your characters name. For example, if I was doing the quest, I would trade the letters END for the name Endril. The prize for this is a colored drop (white drop, yellow drop, etc.). It is unclear if the color of the drop you get is random or if there is a pattern. If you do this same quest again, you will receive chocobo tickets.

After this, you are free to do any of the following quests:

Fortune Egg/Happy Egg: You will get either a fortune egg OR a Happy Egg for doing 7 of the same letter, and this can be ANY letter. If you see that there are a lot of Q's going for 500, nab them... You may get a happy egg or you might get a fortune egg.

Whichever egg you got in the previous quest, you will get the other egg by doing the 8 in a row quest. This 8 in a row MUST start with the first letter of your character's name. (Using my name again, as Endril, my letters would be EFGHIJKL). You can do this quest before the lucky 7 or after.

The furniture eggs have already been explained in detail in another post. Just trade the first 5 letters of the starting areas (Gusta, Ronfa, Sarut). You can bipass this (if you don't have the right eggs) by spelling out the first five letters of an area controlled by that area as well. If, for some reason the starting areas have fallen to another city (which does happen from time to time!) you will need to do this.

I believe you can also trade the first five letters of Vanadiel to get the egg of whichever nation is in power.

The new egg for this year is the Orphic Egg which has not been properly explained in the other posts. To get this egg you must trade the letters that correspond to the ELEMENT of the current day in the game. For example:

If it is Iceday, trade the letters ICE
If it is Earthday, trade the letters EARTH

Now this does NOT mean just spell the first few letters of the day.

If it is Lightning Day, you trade THUNDER
If it is Windday, you trade AIR

The way I remember the proper elements is by the Elementals. You don't see Wind Elementals, you see Air Elementals.

There are other things you can trade to get other lesser items such as being turned into a beastman, but these prizes are not important.

That's as complete as I can make it. Enjoy!

Here we go:
I just finished this event and I'm layin' down my info;

First off, to get eggs you must talk to the moogle in your nation. He will give you one per day for free. You can get another one by trading him either a Color Egg or a Party Egg.

Note: If you are in a party you can choose your egg from a list. The list will be the first letter of your party members' name excluding yours. This is a good strategy for getting the letter eggs you want.

(Also Note: Party Egg will get you two more eggs from moogle, where as color egg will only get you one) Both these eggs can be bought in the auction house (Food>>Meat&Eggs), Crafted
(Cooking lvl66 - Fire Crystal Distilled Water x1, La Theine Cabbage x1, San d'Orian Carrot x1, Lizard Egg x1)
(Note: Party Egg is the HQ of Color Egg), or bought by some the people around you.

Now it's time to trade some eggs;

You can trade your egg(s) that you got with the people near you (trust me, there are A LOT of people near you XD) You can also bazaar them. People on Odin were selling 1-5k mostly with some others selling 10k or more. Its cheapest to wait a couple game days and stock up on eggs to trade instead of just buying them from people.

-First; You MUST trade the moogle 3 eggs with the first three letters of your name.
EX: My name is Leafix, so I traded L-E-A

You will either recieve chocobo coupons (2-4 in my experiance) or colored drops.

-The "Straight 7" (Fortune Egg)
Trading 7 eggs of the same letter to the moogle will net you the Fortune Egg.
Ex: L-L-L-L-L-L-L
Stats: Ammo slot: DMG: 1 Delay: 777 MP+1% VIT+1 rare/ex

-The "Initial 8" (Happy Egg)
For the Happy Egg you will need to get an egg with the first letter of your name and then the seven that follow in the alphabet.
Ex: L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S
(If your name starts with a letter like "Y" you would loop back to the start; Y-Z-A-B-C-D-E-F)
Stats: Ammo slot: DMG: 1 Delay: 777 HP+1% VIT+1 rare/ex

-The "Secret Combo" (Wing Egg, Lamp Egg, Flower Egg)
These eggs are Rare/Ex
NOTE: The Egg furnishing, being rare/ex, is not tradeable or bazaarable. Nor can it be sole in the AH. However, for some reason, it can be sent to others through the delivery system at the auction houses. I have tried this by trading it to my mule as well as other people. So, it IS possible to sell these but be careful who you deal with as they could just keep it and not pay you if you send it to them.

There's my input. Thank you for reading this, and remember to have fun with this event. Don't be a greedy n00b and sell all your eggs for 10k+ to others <.< >.>

Thanks again ^^

-Leafix

This was taken from Leafix Sage from the Lamp Egg discription. It's so good it needed to be moved here. Thanks Leafix!

Ok, so this is the way I understand it:
To start you must trade the first three letters of your name to get the ball rolling so to speek.
Here are a few of the combos that a valid.

Happy Egg
First letter of your name followed by the next 7 letters of the alphabet.
ie...fghijklm

Orphic Egg
First letter of current elemental day followed by the next 7 letters of the alphabet.

ie...efghijkl (e for earthday)

Fortune Egg

Seven letters, all the same.
ie...fffffff

There are more combos but that is all I can remember off the top of my head.
Initial Straight 8
# Apr 11 2006 at 9:51 AM Rating: Decent
Ok I thought this was a run of 8 such as A-H but I was wrong. Is it like first 3 which is the letters of your name? I dont have 8 letters in my name so that makes no sense. Help a girl out. What in the world are they talking about? Can someone give us a list of the combinations?

I have done the regional 5 (first five letters of a region name) and they gave me an egg lamp that is quite lovely but not what I was hoping for. Just a warning, cities do not count as regions for this event.

I have also done 7 of a kind. This gave me the Fortune Egg.

Anyone get a lucky egg from this event?
