Kotan-kor Kamuy's Special Attacks
Historical InformationChikap Kamui (also known as Kotankor Kamui) is a kamui (god) of the indigenous Ainu ethnic group of Japan, governing owls and the land. Depicted as having the form of a great owl, Chikap Kamui was a deity of material success. In the most famous myth involving Chikap Kamui, a famine had struck the land, and Chikap Kamui sought to find the answers from the other kamui as to the cause of the famine. Attempting to send an extremely lengthy message to the heavens, Chikap Kamui killed the crow and the mountain jay for not staying awake long enough to hear the full length of his message, with the crow falling asleep after three days and the jay falling asleep after four days. The dipper bird, the third bird that Chikap Kamui enlisted, diligently listened for the entire six day duration of his recital, and found out from the kamui of fish and game that mankind was neglecting their tributes to them. Chikap Kamui immediately relayed this to man and instructed them how to make rituals following each fish and animal caught. When mankind began to perform these rituals, the kamui were appeased and the famine was lifted.
