General Information

    • Respawn time is approximately 12-15 hours after its last Time of Death.

  • Three copies of Heliodromos will spawn on the island, and will link when one is attacked. All three copies must be killed within a certain frame of time, otherwise the copies that aren't defeated once the time frame has expired will despawn.

  • Susceptible to Sleep, Bind, Slow, Paralysis, and Stun.

Heliodromos's Special Attacks

  • Choke Breath: Frontal cone AoE Wind based damage with additional Silence and Paralysis effects.

  • Jettatura: Frontal cone Terror effect. Targets are unable to perform any action until effect wears off.

  • Fantod: Self target Attack boost for next melee attack.

  • Nihility Song: AoE Dispel effect. Can remove Food effects.

  • Back Hoof: Single target physical damage.

  • Hoof Volley: Single target critical hit physical damage with an additional Enmity reset effect.

Historical Information

In Greek, the word Heliodromos means "sun runner", and is 6th grade of the 7 grades of the cult of Mithra. The 7th grade, Pater, was reserved for the priests of the cult, thus Heliodromos was the highest rank of a non-priest member of the Mithraic cult. It seemed to refer to a runner protected by the Sun.

If you attack one, All of them will aggro, same as with the Carmine Dobsonflies and a few other NM's.

You have 10 minutes to kill one, Then it resets, 10 minutes to kill another etc.

If you fail to kill any in those 10min all of them Depops. You can get Drops even if you dont kill all of them.

I just killed them again, got 2 Gaiter drops, on the 2 first kills.

Nin, Thf, Whm, Rdm, Blm, Blm.
Blm's and Rdm spent their time sleeping the ones we werent fighting, while the Nin and Thf killed the other one.

During the 3rd and some of the 2nd, the Blm were dead. Nin died once, so did Whm and Rdm.

If you survive the first kill, then the rest will be easy if you got a sleeper.
umm....

Just thought I'd post that according to cannotlinkto, You must kill all 3 within a certain amount of time to get any drops. So bring one down and sleep it, then go after another, sleep it, go after another, then kill one, kill another, kill the last and then you will get the drops. Since the boots average a good 1mil-2mil on most servers (notice i said most), and it drops the feather for a good 1mil or so on most servers (notice i said most again), I'd say to bring about 9-10 people. Thats a pretty decent split with 9-10. I thin you might be able to take out all 3 with a BRD, WHM, 2 blink tanks, DD, and a RDM or WHM. Again this is only my opinion, but maybe you can do this like the BCNM40 with madragoras. Have the BRD focus on lullaby and have the WHM cure the BRD, have the RDM cure the melee, (2 blink tanks is good so you don't have to waste a lot of MP.) No matter what the DD is, RNG, BLM, etc. watch as to not get any hate since the shadows make the person lose hate now. Then you can just switch to another hippo when you get one down to like 5-10% HP.

This is just my theory so don't flame me if I'm wrong. Just tell me what would be better. Thx!

Edit: typed tailfeather and it is the regular feather worth 1mil.

Nah what somepage meant was that if you don't kill them all within a certain time period, they'll despawn i.e. if you kill one but end up zoning, the other two will despawn if not engaged within a certain time (which is much less than their stated 10 mins)
O.o;

When I came to get pictures of this guy, there was a group of five Jpn players fighting them. I took my pics, and then asked if I could join them. I said I just wanted to help fight and would not lot on any treasure. They invited me and we went after the two that were left.

The set up was Brd, Whm, Whm (me), Blm, Nin, and the last was a melee DD, not sure which (was anon). They went down easily. No drops, but a fun fight. As long as you can sleep the other two, a group of 6 should have no problem with these.

Hmmm
