Those shrooms can make you trip!

I am a 57 PAL, with a bunch of aa (see my magelo), not uberly equiped but quite correct in my humble opinion...
To give you an idea, self buffed (except for KEI) I solo easy in Velks anything on the ground, (even fierce, that would suck all my mana pool though)...
I tryed Fungus Grove, thinking Xp would be better, and willing to grab some stuff to bake Lotus pies.
The first Lotus from Echo Cavern i could take without difficulty. The second and third too...
Stun is your friend here...

Feeling confident, I tryed to take the next one.
made a few mistakes there :
- he had a friend in aggro distance
- I wasn't full mana
- My self haste was about to fade
- I hadn't memmed Cancel magic to debuff it
- my Lay Hand wasn't up (had to use it on a previous bad pull on Small Mushrooms family... 6 of them nuking/stuning/bashing my *** on the way to zoneline... a piece of advice : pacify pull them!)

I couldn't stun the 2 of them, even the closest could throw some nukes while i was trying to heal...
All their nuke weren't landing, but some did, and they do some serious damage (lots in the 250's, some 450's, maybe a few in the 600's)...

Well, try it solo at 59+ or bring some friends unless you want to have a fast trip to your bind point!

Hit Point Damage
# Mar 19 2006 at 5:43 PM Rating: Decent
Ok well I just ran by one of these today in Fungus Grove, and ummm the first spell hit me for 297, the second for 900, the next was 450, and then 480. This was in about a thirty second span, I am a 51 pally. To say the least after the third hit I was high tailing it out of zone with divine aura cast. Maybe they upgraded this thing since last few posts, but he spell casts for average 450 i would say. It con'd dark blue to me. I still think spell casters and healer mobs are way underconned.
Debuff em
# Aug 03 2004 at 4:28 AM Rating: Decent
I hunt these as a 59 mage for baking indgredients. They were giving my pet quite a walloping at first until i started em off with a debuff then a malosini.

Also i found that my air pet takes a lot less damage than my other pets as my air pet casts a stun spell. Most of this mobs damage is from wizard type nukes which are not all listed.

These mobs will immobilize, then summon you but even as a mage with 500 ac they are only hitting for around 140dam. They also have a dd fire and ice spell. The ice spell has a brief root type effect.

And btw these mobs drop Sweet Lotus Sap,Sticky Lotus Sap, and the other indgredients that you need to bake Thick Lotus Paste which is Baking trivial 122 and +9 Cha

Oh yeah last but not least I have watched these mobs cast a high level caster shield on themselves which I am guessing gives around 300 hp,AC,and MR.

Clerics Mark of Karn(56) or Mark of Kings(64) removes the DS and replaces with a healing shield buff. When you hit the mob it heals you. I love clerics. The Velious quest armor has mark of karn as a clicky effect.

my venture into FG
# Oct 24 2003 at 7:35 AM Rating: Decent
First trip into FG by 54 Druid. Kinda thinking about keeling for my SoE spell. Wham, smacked by this fungus for 450...run back to village. Come back, wham, rooted and hit with something for 650. A wiz (I think) that was watching this debacle, attacked fungus. I mounted Gate and skedaddled. Hate caverns, too dark and I also die in them.
Hope that guy did ok.
Cleric soloable?
# Jul 18 2003 at 11:50 AM Rating: Excellent
54 Cleric here. Decided I wanted to be a baker, and make some Lotus pies. So, off to Fungus grove to beat on some plants.....before coming here and doing some prep work and reading up on these badboys. As we all know clerics totally suck at solo'ing, but I have been known to drop a mob or two in my time. So, I nuked it for 630 took it down 3% and decided at that point..this ain't happening. Started running like a banshee for the guards..rooted..nuked..nuked...unrooted down to about 30% health heal meself and take two steps rooted again..nuked again...nuked again..unrooted..heal..two steps... (you get the idea)...thought I was a goner then all the sudden everything stops...I look back and the dern thing hasn't moved..take two steps and boom...rooted....he he now I know this things range..guess what? I have extended range IV focus items!!!! nanny nanny poo poo my nukes reach farther than yours do!!! lmao!! With KEI... still took me down to zero mana...med to full...zero mana..med to full three times before I finally kilt it. got about 1 blue "tick" of exp, and no loot. Total fight was about 20 minutes or so. Decided maybe this wasn't the best or quickest way to get my baking skills up. Gonna grab me some friends and go back.

49 cleric here,

Well, they either nerfed this or something was wrong this morning. I got to the longest extent of my range (with an extended range item) and started nuking. I know the item went off, the message appeared for all of my nukes. About 3 nukes in, I notice something blinking on my buff bar and it is the after-effects of being encased in ice. Then my hp bar drops and suddenly I am summoned to this thing. It's "spines" hit for 450 and I die right next to the damn thing.

I sent a petition to see what was up but got nothing back so I assume that extended range no longer provides this stategic option.

Yep, they summon alright. Took my 55 druid ther for a spell drop and picked a fight with this thing not knowing anything about it, except that is doesnt move. So figure i will root n rot this lotus plant but noooo he summoned me, nuked me, then rooted me. Waited for awhile then roots wore off, start to move then nuke and rooted again. Wait for awhile nuked me again ,, so i was like ***** this im outta here, lotus fungus man is one mean plant. So i head for the exit,,, get down towards the guards and thinking wheew i made it when i see a message that say 'You will not evade me Maxxius' Summoned me from far away. Nuke, Nuke, and my corpse was laying right next to this plant.

Stationary Plants that cast wizard spells.

They hit in the low 130s and have decent resists.

They are crammed in places where it's very easy to stumble across them without seeing them first, so tread lightly.

I have yet to come across one that has seen invis, so I'm going to assume they don't until I experience it firsthand.

Spawn time is around 25 minutes, and there are many spawns located throughout the zone (I'd estimate 7 or 8).

The cast these buffs on themselves:
Arch Shielding
O'keils Embers
Rune IV

They cast these spells in combat:
Conflagration
Immobilize
Elnerick's Entombment of Ice
Gravity Flux
Ice Shock
Lotus Spines - Innate disease spell with -300 to resist

This is the loot they drop:
Sweet Lotus Sap - No link
Sticky Lotus Sap - No link
Soft Lotus Petals - No link
Black Lotus Stem - No link
Lotus Vine Whip
Lotus Vine Necklace

61 Mage and These Bad Boys
# May 05 2003 at 11:11 AM Rating: Decent
As a 61 Mage I can solo these, they are still dark blue. I pull up my 61 air pet, BO4, FS of Ro, all the PoP items, and armor and send the pet in. I let the pet get all the aggro and wait to nuke the plant after it looses a bulb of health.

I still get summoned sometimes, but can run out almost always. Once in a rare while I get rooted, but the pet has the aggro, and I am usually safe, even though I am up close and personal. I have died here hunting these on a very rare occasion, so I never take these lightly.

If I am really trying, I can kill four of these and then finish up on some shrooms before the Lotus respawn (repop time is about 25 minutes). I can do about four blue blubs of AA and hour here if I push it and have KEI, but things can get hairy at that speed and I can get careless.

My only question is how many Lotus are there? I know of 4. One at the entrance into the main cave, and three on the left side of the entrance right past that first shroom patch before you get to the bandit camp. If there are others, where are they?

Hope this helps.

these guys are simple for a 61 necromancer

- send in pet
- debuff the damage shield
- vexing the lotus
- shadowbond the pet
- cessation of cor or ebolt

fight should last <80 seconds, keep shadowbond on pet constantly and the lotus should barely touch him..

Just as you leave the village next to Echo zone in, you'll find one of these to the left as you enter into the open area, be warned it will aggro if you are near the left wall, if you want to enter the open area hug the right wall or have invis up.

As a lvl 60 shaman I have wanted to start soloing here for a while, loaded dog dog, focused it, regen, aclarity, hugged wall till I could see the Deep Cavern Lotus, and sent pet, (I read the a post here that said they have a DS up, on this occasion I either fought it before it cast it or some don't have it on)cast Malo and slow and followed with BoN and EB, as Dots took I got summoned resisted root with svm at 150 and resisted some of it's 450 nukes with svf 160 not sure if they are fire based though.

Pet took very little dmg re-Dotted with BoN and EB, had to Torpor myself 2-3 times pretty easy fight all in all nothing dropped, never in any real trouble, However could be a pretty onesided fight if one aggro'd you unprepared.

For kicks, I took a 42 bard into try to kill these things. Yeah I died, but I actuallly did about 10% damage to it before it killed me.

I resisted quite a few of their spells. My resists were all just above 200, I think I resisted about 90% of the spells it tried to hit me with.

Tried again when I hit 46, with the same results. I did fairly well, at first... Then it got off a few quick nukes and I was dead.

Prolly try again at around 50 or so.

These things are rooted, cast wizard spells depending on level (some cast Ice Comet if 49). They summon.
Drops include lots of parts (stackable) for the Earing of Solstice quest part (Lotus pie) and sel for about 50pp each to players. Lotus Vine Neclace is a rare, Whip is super rare and not really that nice for MOB this caliber.
They are easy to kill I just send epic pet to tank and cycle 3 stuns by a cleric while I click-nuke. These things spend a lot of time casting (mostly Elenerik's Entombent of Ice, Immobilize, Markar's Clash (or similar); worst ones are the rain spell and direct nukes. These also cast Annul Magic.
They will agro you and try to root you and then nuke.

The buff themselves with wizard shield, rune, o'kiel's embers and in very rare cases see invisible. They also cast O'Kiel's on any MOB near them.

I killed one of these with my 52 Wizard with the help of a Paladin and a Bard both lvl 54 and 58. They kept it busy and stunned while I crammed 4 Ice Comets Down its throat then finnished it off with a Draught of Fire. They have alot of Hps and nuke often but if stunned they cant compete with a Wizards casting speed.

Note this guys subject line. " EAZY PREY FOR WIZARDS."

Please Barney Fife. Your not that special. Without Andy Taylor and Aunt Bee to sing back up. Your just another worthless wizard who is relegated to Wyverns in C.S. Mr. "EAZY PREY" solo king. Now before some snooty knob rags on me think about the posting. I came here to see if my 55 Necro could solo. After some good reading from Mages and Necros 60ish. Mr. Eazy Prey shows up. I happen to have a 51 wiz myself. Found myself excited and read on. What do I get. Just a braggart who gives his friends a minor mention as his 'helpers' ha ha please.
BARNEY keep that bullet in your shirt pocket till Andy tells ya all to shoot the critter. Till then I got the Critter for $20 vs you SOLO anyday.

I hate these things. I aggroed it somehow and it attempted to nuke me but I resisted numerous times. However he started landing a few (YOU have been hit for 450 points of dmg!!!) I DoTed it with my epic weapon but by the time it started to take a noticeable effect I was down to 1 bub of life. I cast Torpor on myself and that's when the summoning fest started. He summoned me at least 5 times in a row. At one poingt I was almost at zone swimming through the water but to no avail. I died learning a valuable lesson at level 60. Keep that gate spell up at all times. /nod

Well myself (52 pally) and a buddy (53 cleric) decided to see how tough these things were. Wow, what a mistake. Booku hp's... I got him down about 1/4 with the cleric nuking too, we figured we'd split, BAM... summoned over and over, cleric blew all his mana and I burned my LoH... still got waxed, had my 45 druid in the area, for corpse dragging... it was all good, learned the hard way. (BTW they do NOT see thru invis)
Don't See Invis
# Dec 16 2001 at 8:16 AM Rating: Good
Was here last night and spent all night fighting in the Grove. The plant did not see invis, and I didn't actually see it do any AE's, but does cast, and cast a lot. average group of 50ish peeps can take these out, they don't move, but do summon, seen one guy get all the way to the bar past the gate, get summoned, run back get summoned again, and eventually died hehe. a group of 4 including a 56 tank, 50ish cleric, druid and mage killed one (not sure on cleric, druid and mage cons, all blue to me at 56, but warrior was even con) took a little while for them to kill, but they did get it down, with no deaths

Here's what I think happens with these. They don't see invis, ran a whole group by them no problem until the druid who I think "touched" the lotus on the way by. She got rooted a couple times and we nearly lost her until she got away from the plant, it did not summon her.
Later as we were wrapping up our adventures in the Grove a couple of small mushrooms were trained out. The folks in the outpost do not help so our chanter charmed one, while we all sat on the other and began killing it. After the fight was over we realized the one that had been charmed was gone. The chanter quickly camped to clear aggro from his pet, unfortunately as a bard, I had also aggro'd the "pet" by way of my mana song, etc. on the master. Next thing I know I'm getting summoned....wait a minute small mushrooms don't summon?!? Anyway this runaway mushroom had wandered down the hall and when charm broke transferred enough aggro to the lotus that it began to summon me. The lotus summoned maybe 4 times, each just as I was making it back to my group by the gates of the outpost then I seemed to get "out of range" since it stopped until we engaged the small mushroom which had followed me back to camp then the summoning started again. I ended up mezzing the lotus until my group could med up a lil and then come to help me. I threatened to drag the lotus all the way to the zone to echo if need be so they were more than happy to lend a hand.
RE: Don't See Invis

A) You cannot "get out of range" to be summoned. If you are in the zone...you are in range.

B) These don't move. IE. They are...self rooted if you will. Thus making it impossible to "drag...all the way to the zone."

C) Mobs don't transfer tid bits of their hate list. They get it all. Thus you were a Bard yo-yo toy to the plant.

These things suck to FD - you have to run out of line of sight to successfully FD because they INSTANTLY recast upon completing a spell, leaving no window for FD.. Not fun, not sure what resist its favourite nuke runs off (something to do with spines) but may be poison or disease as I got hit for full damage every time and my resists in PR and DR suck.
