My question is: Why can't Dancers use this? When the update was released, this was one of the first items I went to go check. Scholar is there, but why isn't Dancer? Daggers are Dancer's main weapon(as far as I can tell), so not being able to use this Dagger both befuddles and astounds me.
I got this dagger along time ago (3yrs) and use it on my BLM to skill up dagger, for future use on RDM and THF. On Windsday and full moon, I agree the silence procs more
ok so a long time ago i got this dagger accidentally and i dropped it cuz my main was pld, but now my bst is pretty high and this is one of the best daggers bst can have. is there any possible way i can get it again? i really want to get it for my bst (x's knife is a possible alternative, but i hate those mithras >_<)
While farming the other day in Buburimu I did notice that the additional effect: silence was going off much more frequently on a windsday, (made it up to three times in a row), than the previous days. Just thought this might be useful to know.
On windsday with a Full Moon, the silence goes off about 3 out of 4 hits. At least on too weak mobs, I haven't tried it on anything stronger.
Edit - I've also found that the Silence effect will not trigger if you have an en-spell active, which makes sense as they are both considered an 'Additional Effect'.
2nd Edit - After even more testing, I've found that the Additional Effect does in fact trigger more on windsdays, and the closer it is to Full Moon, the better. Even on DC Goblin Alchemists in Gustav Tunnel, the effect was constantly keeping them silent on windsday. However, it does not seem to work on mobs that are resistant to the Silence spell. I have not yet seen it work on Too Weak Air Elementals, nor would it work on Garuda herself (not that I really expected that it would).
O.o this post is about the Dagger, not the quest. I got this dagger about 2 weeks ago. It has lower DOT than the Hornetneedle, but the Stats and the Added Effect are the important parts. I'm not sure of this, but I heard that the Additional Effect kicks in more on Windsday, can anyone confirm or deny this? Also, can this silence mobs that would otherwise be unable to be silenced? such as HNMs and just highly magic resistant mobs?
im thinking about getting this for my rng since the AF kinda takes away the agi buffs of the noct set. i was wondering if anyone else uses this for rng or if there is something better?
First off, it is repeatable. There is a 1 day downtime on quest though, you must wait 24 hours before you can go get the quest again. Second, a party of 60's can do this with not to much effort, just smart gameplan. (ie: keep mages from 2hr range, pld uses Invincible when nearing 2hr so whm can flee out of 2hr range, nukers nuke their butts off.)
Good party setup is: 1 whm, 1 pld, 2 blm, 1 rdm, 1 ???. Use the ??? slot for any melee or mage that wants to, try to get the first 5 the same way though.
Everytime you beat the avatar, you can choose a different reward. ie: Beat it once, get the pact. Beat it again, get the dagger. Beat it again, get the gil.
Rabao Quests 30 (reccomended 65) Very High San d'Orian fame (~70?)
Speak to Agado-Pugado and he will tell you about his encounter with the great Avatar of Wind. He says that the avatar had attacked his party when the Wind Protocrystal was resonated. He asks if you could help him calm this avatar's fury. If you accept, you will recieve the Tuning Fork of Wind.
The journey to the Protocrystal is a long road, and there are many tough enemies along the way. Even if you're level 75 you could run into trouble, so it's best to sneak and Invisible through the zones.
Through Altepa West, Through the Kuftal Tunnel, through Cape Teriggan, all the way into the Cloister of Gales. [Specifics are being researched]
When you reach the Cloister of Gales, you will find a giant green crystal before you, when your group is ready, examine the crystal and one by one your group will be teleported to the Battlefield.
This battle will be extremely tough. A group of level 65's should be able to take it, if ballanced correctly. Garuda is Wind, so remember to fit as many Ice Skill Chains as you can in your battle plans. Skill chains are an essential part of this fight.
Once the long, tough battle is over, return to Agado-Pugado. He will give you a choice of the below rewards.
Repeatable No
Reward: Garuda Dagger Wind Belt Wind Ring Nothing (Create a pact with the Avatar. IE:Summon)
Ok here is a question.... if you get the pact after the first fight, can you repeat the fight to get the items/gil ?? or if you get the items first it negates the chance to get the pact? I am about to start SMN flag, But I got a ranger that would love the knife.....
