Item Changes and Additions

From PlayOnline.com:

In the upcoming version update, we plan to introduce a multitude of items and synthesis recipes that will open the door to new weapons and armor with graphics unlike anything you've ever seen before!

We will also be giving players another chance to obtain the rewards from selected quests and missions they have already completed.

New Items

Here is a selection of the new weapons and armor to be found in the next version update. How will these powerful items be obtained, and what wondrous properties will they possess...?

Existing Rewards

In answer to requests from many players, a number of rewards will once again become available. This change will be put into effect for selected quests and missions with multiple reward choices, such as Divine Might, Apocalypse Nigh, and the Chains of Promathia storyline.

We hope that players who have accidentally discarded a valuable item or those who wish to change their choice of reward will take full advantage of this opportunity!

ZexathePirate: Hey, how about more character models? I really am tired of seeing my doppleganger everywhere. Maybe more hair color choices...

That does sound good dont it? I honestly think a few more hair choices for a players character would be a really nice change, I think the processing power of Final Fantasy XI could handle a few new hair cuts for players.

ZexathePirate:How about adding an option under equipment for our back piece to be shown on our characters? I know that when I am a pld, it would look sweet if my cape was shown, but like on some jobs, a rabbit mantle would look plain dorky.

Nah, I think XI is doin' great as it is. Can you imagine the lag effects that would take place is everyone had a cape flowing round in the wind?

flXsolo: c) Another nice addition would be color choices for armor. For a little
extra gil you can buy differnt colors of the same armor at
different prices. Like the ones with different attributes would
be a different color. That way when someone runs past you, you'll
know what they are wearing without having to scan them.

The Armor, we have now is pretty good as it is, there are alot of equipment that looks like other things, like the Cuir Vest at lv40, it looks exactly like the Leather Vest. Honestly, if you cant afford anything better then the Cuir Vest at lv40 then why continue leveling?

Besides, even if you were wearing the Steam scale mail at lv23, ppl might check ya, but that just shows that your wearing cooler armor then some noob that could be and prolly is still wearing Scale Armor at lv20+

flXsolo: d) At least 2 more races would be cool. I would like to see a dwarf.
We have elves what about dwarves. I know they're Taru but what
about a small physical powere house. Could you imagine seeing a
little person PT with taru and Beared Dwarves. That would rock!
Taru are the most powerful mages in the game. Give then an ancient
allegiance with the Dwarves. Shoot, the dwarve should also start
with a crafting bonus. As far as a taller character I say another
animal based race. Something cool like Kimari from FFX. Anything
with horns, I think

LOL Dwarf, plz leave the wimpy races of WoW to WoW, thank you very much. Tarutaru fit the role of a Dwarf, so we wouldn't need a extra race based on the Dwarfs..

Now for a Kimahri Race, I can kind of see that. Tho it wouldn't have any merit, no real point to making up a nother Race for Vana'diel

Only Extra races, that you'll probably see in the near future is, Male Mithra <Mantras> and/or Female Galka's <I hope to god SE dosent release that tho>

Besides, Most things now a days. Like changing the color of your armor, you can do with general .DAT switching. If you dont have a PC then your outta luck

Well i once again see ppl complaining about "New char. models..new hairstyles..blah blah blah..." you know what kinda game you get when you make extreamly customizable char. models.... you get WoW. People have to remember if you add one place you gotta sacrifice another... If you try and make a game that has it all.. no system is gonna run it good. Then people will complain about that... Personally, i have no problem with FFxi's model chocies. Its plenty. Id rather see better graphics in othere game aspects than be able to make my char have visiable earrings.. or 5 o'clock shadow. or have the choice to make him and shade or any color in the book...

and about back peices.... ya ... how about no. What will you want next..both equipped rings to be visable. and earings. and can't forget to show the neck peices. Oh wait how about a quiver on your back that has 99 arrows in it..and the number of arrows goes down as you use them...........

Come-on people.. FFxi is a great game. Quit crying about all these petty things.
yum!

# Jun 05 2007 at 8:54 AM Rating: Decent
I will be very suprised if this does happen, but I am praying that DRG will get a hold of some of the better DD armour.

Sure we can get some pretty good stuff (if you have alot of money) but come on, no Hauby, a MEGA-DD armour piece?!?!

I always rant about thi to ls members and usually get ignored so I thought I'd bother you all with my little rant.

I know it won't happen, but I can wish ^^
blah blah blah all i hear
# Jun 04 2007 at 5:49 AM Rating: Decent
Honestly..... i dont understand ppl who wish for everything... wish wish wish, its a game, adding more races like dwarf or some weird crap is unimaginable in ffxi... its a final fantasy game its gotta stick to the roots get with the program... yes it would be cool to have big tigers running around but their char model designs for this game are diff from the other ff's . as far as showing capes and back armor... just about everyone should know that they cannot do that as long as there are PS2 players... dont forget the PS2 HDD cant hold as much as a cpu and the graphics chip isnt as great as a PC's or Xbox 360's either (well if you have a decent PC anyway) so throw that out the window. adding xp for quests would make the game more like WoW, wtf.... that just phails there... we all spend hrs lfp... it part of the game... if you could just rush to 75 theres no challenge, the greatest benefit ffxi has over wow is you can change your job whenever you want.

And for the guy that wants race changes.... comon be realistic... your probly like the only one out of a million ppl that wants that... so stop talking about it its annoying

I agree with ZexathePirate! I don't play anymore for that reason and a few others. I am concidering it again, but it sucks that I have to start from scratch. I played Wow for a bit as well and love the idea if I need a break, I can just pick it up from where I left off. But WoW was a bit too cartoonie for me. FFXI can learn a bit of different trick by looking at a few of the other MMO titles out. Heres a few of the changes i believe, and maybe a few others would agree.

1.) Character design is to basic. You can't make them as unique as other
games.

a) Back pieces (as someone else in this forum pointed out) would be
nice.
b) Hair styles would make a huge diffence! Whats the point of running
around town without your helmet on then, lol.
c) Another nice addition would be color choices for armor. For a little
extra gil you can buy differnt colors of the same armor at
different prices. Like the ones with different attributes would
be a different color. That way when someone runs past you, you'll
know what they are wearing without having to scan them.
d) At least 2 more races would be cool. I would like to see a dwarf.

2.) Last but not least, Everything shouldn't evolve around PT'n
a)XP in a party is good, but what about XP after you comleted a mission
or quest. I know theres the mobs you kill, but that is at no rate,
getting you XP in a reasonable fashion. Thats why I suggest a little
reward by the NPC in XP along with items. It would definately
encourage more people to play the storyline and not just trying to PT
for XP. I've lost countless hours waiting for a party. It sucks! If
you could get XP from a mission or quest wouldn't you?

I would honestly have to say... that this is not WoW, and for the players who have suggested it *cough* flXsolo *cough* that you are nothing but ignorant. FFXI is unique in its own way because it isn't WoW. You don't have 12 year old kids running around reporting you for accidentally slipping your language and harassing you because you somehow are better than them. Even though the game could use a bit of graphical enhancement in some areas, it's graphics are far better than most MMORPGs. As for Experience points, once again you quoted WoW. I think you need to double think your position on that. Experience points from a quest or mission is quite possibly one of the stupidest things by far. You have Garrisons, Eco-Warrior, etc that you can get experience from. The idea of not being able to solo your way to 75 is what makes this game a challenge. It's a teamwork based game, yet you try to pose your ideas on others so that they see this as a ruined challenge as well. Go back to WoW and stop bugging us. Last but not least, new races? The only new race I see are the Mithra males, especially since it is said that there are male Mithras but they don't do as much as the females (if you read the instruction booklet). So once again, leave WoW as is and leave FFXI as is. The game is fine, it doesn't need your pending ideas of WoW pressed on it.
Thats it?

Hey, how about more character models? I really am tired of seeing my doppleganger everywhere. Maybe more hair color choices... Or a one time chance to change my character model, since I didn't know it was this popular when I first started. It could even be a quest, and I go and visit a beauty saloon.

How about adding an option under equipment for our back piece to be shown on our characters? I know that when I am a pld, it would look sweet if my cape was shown, but like on some jobs, a rabbit mantle would look plain dorky.

to say that most players are against it is stupid since you have not interviewed every person fo every server to get a good enough response to back up that claim that most people are against it.

And where did I say in my post that all players were against it? I said that I was sure that a lot of people would like a race change. I never EVER insinuated that everyone was against it.

So, Kisami, you need to learn to start reading the whole post thoroughly before you come on here bashing other people, it makes a fool out of you. Reading two lines and then spewing forth idiocy doesn't count as 'reading the whole post.'

Anyways ... I think a race change would be a definite step in the right direction. It would not hurt anyone, and would only help to increase player performance across all servers, without a doubt. It would be a big plus. And when you weigh the credits and the debits in this situation, I think anyone will agree that the credits outweigh the debits.

Prob with a race change is, generally (by all means, not always) ppl tend to lvl melee jobs OR mage jobs. So what you would get is a world full of Taru's & Galka's (and maybe mithras).

If that wasntthe case, then it could be a good idea :/

Ummm... Hello... no offense, but don't get picking over the details of whom and what about the new equipment. Programmers can edit this stuff at a drop of a hat. Besides, They could be just using those jobs for the scene. You know, like a body double in a movie. The SMN's animation might have been the "Look" they wanted rather than the outward positioning of the hands like with the Normal spell cast. That's just my take on it as an art major, of course I could be totally wrong.

there is nothing wrong with changing race. im pretty sure there are some players out there who would like to change their race purely based on stats or apearance. to say that most players are against it is stupid since you have not interviewed every person fo every server to get a good enough response to back up that claim that most people are against it.

having new armors is nice, but it will be annoying to get them. certainly costly so it will take a while before common people can even see someone with one.

Here you can read whats a PLD. Its more a Knight or a Person next to the Kings and Higher Persons. Even Hitler called Göring as a "Paladin"

To be fair, in the Japanese text, Paladin is simply "Knight". No sign of holiness there, though I suppose most San d'Orian knights have some relationship with the church.

As for basic heavy armor, the set looks pretty awesome. =D

SE is outdoing themselves with all this new armor, the new additions are really sweet. The graphics on the new items are awesome, the ability to change items you got before that you can't get again (e.g. - Divine Might rewards) is awesome but...

Will they ever allow a change that will, in effect, really change a persons overall performance? I've been rallying for a race change for the past year, and I would love to see SE provide us with a one time opportunity to change race but ... seems like a distant wish.

Talk about changing the games dynamics... Galka's that you see running around w/ most all mage jobs lvled, would most likely change to Taru or Hume, Taru's with melee jobs lvled would change to Hume, Galka, or Elvaan ... heck. I could see an over-all shift in party dynamics across all servers if this were to happen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking anyone. You just have to admit that Taru's have much better mage stats than do elvaan or galka. And Elvaan and Galka have much better melee stats than do taru.

A race change would be a plus for the better, and I'm sure there are many people that would love to see it happen... but people gotta start speaking out. I dunno if it's too late or not, but if you'd like to see it happen, rally for it now before the update comes, something might actually happen. Don't be afraid of what others in protest will say, because nine out of ten they're probably just jealous that others will have a chance to better themselves if they don't like the idea of a race change.

Speak out, see what happens. If you can get them to gimp up CoP missions, then surely you can get them to allow something that will actually help a persons character out w/out making others feel screwed over (hints at CoP missions again). It would be a change for the best for everyone.

You should have learned by now that most people are against this. That's why the threads you keep making on this subject keep getting rated down to sub default.

I wonder if they'll make it possible to re-aquire the more mundane Rare/Ex rewards like the wastebasket, engineer's gloves, windshear hat, bibiki seashell (Especially the seashell as it's more than just situational). I've got a whole bunch of Rare/Ex items I'm a little afraid to toss because I know I'll never be able to get them again.

Back when they released Igqira for blm. They showed a Tarutaru Drg using it. As we all know, Igquira is BLM only.

It looks like PLD armour. But it might be Drg or War, or anything but PLD armour.

The "BLM" is also casting with Summoner animation. Does that mean Smn will beable to use it? We dont know till it comes out.
