Version Update Coming in June

The next version update for FINAL FANTASY XI is scheduled to take place in early June. Players can look forward to a new, large-scale battle system, as well as additional Assault Missions, Aht Urhgan missions, quests, monsters, merit point abilities, and more!

I have to agree that they will likely open up one or both of these. Personally, I'd love to see them make one of them solo oriented. I'm not at all against the party mentality of the game, but it would be nice to have something that you can just run and do when you're bored without having to organize a party. The closest that we have to that right now is NMs, but that involves endless hours of camping. BCNMs, KSNMs, and ENMs are great, but you still have to organize a minimum of 2 other people for a party. Even if you know two people that will always jump at those kind of fights, it can take a while to get everyone ready and in position. I'm the kind of player that likes to jump on for an hour then log. A solo based "NM" fight would be ideal for me :)

only 2 choices as far as i can tell for a possible new avatar and one isn't very likely. First Bahamut, he's already in the game as an avatar but you can't summon him only fight, they mock you by givin you the whisper for him but it does you no good. Second this is the most likely since the update entails TOAU think middle eastern and you get Odin, he wields that scimitar, plus he's one of the smaller classical summons which makes it likely that he will be in the game someday. I can already picture his 2hr Zanetetsuken a AOE slash with possible instant death. Alexander as far as i can tell would be foolish to make a avatar not just due to size but also cuz he is just too much of an avatar at the moment for SE to consider, but i hope someday to see him as a avatar i highly doubt it. I also bet that tier 2 merits for TOAU jobs will be included so all you cor, blu and pup's can be happy to be 75.

What would be really cool but probably not going to happen is creating an interactive learning software put into to things like Wyverns/Automatons/(Summons?) that will allow them to like... react with party members as well as you autonomously from your command and have them get gradually smarter each level and stuff o_o ok I know weird idea but it would be cool
And I like the Wyvern armor or maybe some sort of individual armor for pet type things like that that will allow you to customize not only yourself but your buddy ^_^

I would like to see....

Weapons: Subweap for samurai Sheath, increasing or adding effects to samurai attributes or stats. Sheath is worn as a extra sub weapon accessory somewhat like a mantle or rings, add latents or effects depending on what sheath is equiped

Sub weapon for monk: wristband adds effects to monks hand2hand and stat catagories.

Sub weapon for DRK: Frame, Magical shields that block damage by absorbing half the damage dealt, the affect activates when DRK shield skill is lvl'd affects vary by frame equiped.

Sub weapon for warrior: while warrior equiped GAXE sub weapon is power stone, increasing attribute and stats with varying stone.

Sub weapon for ranger: scouting animal, increasing rngatk or acc/ attributes and skills depending on pet equiped, pet does not attack. pets are usually something like a hawk,bird small wolf etc.

Sub weapon for ninja: X

Sub weapon for dragoon: wyvern armor, increasing stats on wyvern or breath attack on wyvern varying on the armor piece, armor pieces could be anything from a tail armor piece to wing protection armor piece, adds unique'ness to a wyvern and style.

Sub for beastmaster: i never thought about it.

Sub weapon for cor: never thought about it but since they are pirats they should have something pirates have like a little bird that sits on their shoulder, bird doesnt fight but it could pull mobs by doing a rng attack u could send it off to get mobs and do 1 digit damage to it and it adds special effects when equiped i guess lol.

Sub for blu: they dont need nothing else!

Sub weapon for rdm: neither do they!

Sub weapon for pup: never thought about it even tho i lvl pup ( shows my unbiasedness :) lol

Well something like that would make the game interesting don't you think?

large-scale battle system? first things that come to mind are the Colosseum and The Pit. Of course it could also be the revamping of the current system and making magic miss.. o_O (1st effect listed in AltanaView) or maybe the addition of Libra.

Here's a few things I've always wanted to see (and hopfully before I die of old-age I will see them).

1) New Weapons
Great Hammers - Slow but Insanely powerful
Sickle - Smaller version of a Scythe but for those who /nin
Whips/chains - Beastmaster's Range weapon/Ninja's Range weapon
Nunchuckus - Monk weapons
Double-Blade Sword - When you have to kill everything in the room

2) Linkshell Moghouse
Where LS members have an Inventory of items they can share.
Equipment that can be shared among the LS members excusively(rare/ex/ls).
Bigger than a Moghouse for more furniture.
A place a little more private than the Hostel.

3) New Beastmen
What could be better than Monkies?
Beastmen born and bred for the sole purpose of Warfare!
ex. Guerrilla Soldier, Guerrilla Seargent Major and Guerrilla General
Imagine Fighting King-Kong with the scale difference! Yeah, like that!

4) Avatars
They already have two avatars(Fenrir and Diabolos) for the Dark Element, why not two for every element.
Fire - Phoenix
Water - Sylph
Wind - Valefore
Earth - Madiun
Thunder - Ixion
Ice - Umaro (Yeti in FFvi)
Light - Alexander
Maybe a special one if you have 3 Summoners in a party - The Magus Sisters

5) Relics for Pup, Cor and Blu
Corsair, maybe something that looks more like Johnny Depp than Kiera Knightly.

6) At least... More selling space in the Auction House. 7 is not enough.

7) and don't even get me started on Jobs.

Idea for the Colesum (New Update)

I would really like to see an event around a farmed rare/ex or CP point item that would tweak the astral condesence in Whitegate. This would trigger a dynamis type event in the coleseum. This event would be a gladiator / mercenary type battle where a patron type NPC would send your Alliance(s) out against various Besieged type monsters in order to obtain Dynamis currency of all types like the COP areas and also the key items for relic upgrades. Because so much gill has left the game, it's made regular dynamis runs very very difficult to pay for. I would just hope SE provides another way to earn ancient currency and this would be an outstanding opportunity to do so.

There are many types of weapons out there each falling in their own group of damage types (piercing, slashing, impact). How about introducing new weapons for existing jobs that fall under a different type. For example, How about an impact arrow? Because it doesnt pierce, maybe it needs to be fired from a closer range (or point-blank).

Or, perhaps have a H2H weapon for rangers that they can equip (even if they are only using the skill from their sub-job).

However, one of the coolest thoughts that I had would be piercing knuckles or slashing knuckles. H2H weapons that allow the wearer to be more effective against different types of mobs.

Basically, what I was thinking is having new weapons that are the same type in terms of weapon skills, but different in what type of damage they deal. This could allow different jobs to kill mobs that they dont normally fight. Rng is not very handy against skellies, so we dont get invited to the undead pts too often. I like fighting them and enjoy the variety on occasion. But, I usually get invited to mobs that are weak against slashing and piercing weapons. This would be a neat change, in my opinion. Especially now, since so many people have multiple jobs that are capped.

Won't let me edit last post so gotta rock new one! =P I doubt they'll add anything like Dyna for AU. We already have assaults including Nyzul Isle now, plus Salvage. I don't see them adding anything Dynamis-esque. There's plenty of high end gear AU wise now. But who knows, update not here yet. =P

I get really mad reading about the guy who said MNK was a wreck pre-end game. LOL How do you think us BLMs feel? I am not saying they sould not help MNK, I guess I am just frustrated that SE keeps adding new content but almost every time I want to level I have to solo cause no one wants BLMs.

Well mnk is a train wreck til endgame. BLM has more content built into the game than mnk, and the three most recently added jobs. MNK jse, with the exception of a piece or two, is junk. I am talking pure jse, not something it shares with sam and nin. They gave BLM a bonus to magic burst recently as I recall. Your tier 2 merits where something BLM's asked for, mnk sorta got well...let's say 95% of the mnks I know have not gotten tier2 merits yet simply due to the fact that all but 1 is purely situational and not useful day in and day out. Mnk tier 2 merits are no where near on par to Blm tier 2 or rdm for usefulness, can we say Tier 2 AM and Tier 2 enfeebling for starters.

Part of the problem being is the type of mobs people choose to fight are not mnk friendly, and it is like pulling teeth to start bones pt's. Until mnk gets to near endgame it is the redheaded step child of DD's. We lack content, and it needs midgame balance not endgame, and my original post was directed at the sam who wants more sam content.

Endgame mnk is one of if not the best dd around. Before then it hurts to be a mnk and try and get pt's. Soloing as a mnk is also pretty much out of the question. I see many people quit playing mnk in the mid 50's purely based upon not getting pt's. SE promised every job new content after the introduction of tier 2 merits, and I would just like to see the content given to all jobs. They have recently been fixing midgame content, Hasso for sam and Autofresh for pld to name 2 things for other jobs. I would just like to see mnk get it's turn for midgame balance.

Myself and many player I know and talk to seem to think mnk is below par at midgame and could use a tweak. I have no solution to fix the problem that a few players have seen, nothing that wouldn't cause a disruption to it's endgame content atleast.

I can not recall the last time mnk was given additional content that was not an across the board update for all jobs. I read a lot of archieved information and was unable to come up with any. If anyone can give me a date and a link to the last time mnk was addressed on it's own or with another job please do so. I am not talking about when they gave every job but Cor, Pup, Blu their tier 2 merits, but something like Hasso for sam.

I challenge you to play mnk and tell me it doesn't need a midgame tweak. Or ask your friends who have mnk in midgame or played mnk to endgame and see what they have to say. It needs a little lift to get it into the same thoughts as War and Sam at those levels.

Monk Is not a train wreck at any level. If you find it hard to get a pty (which, yes, pre lvl60, mnks can find it kinda hard to get an invite) then make your own party. It is all part of being a monk. If you cant do that, then there is no point in doing the job. All you have to do, is think about how by the time you reach lvl75, you will have one of the most fun & Incredibly tough DD's in the game at your disposal. You can also look forward to doing alot of solo-stuff with /nin. (i used /whm to solo with pre-75) MNK/NIN is so enjoyable, i simply cant put it into words. Once you finish your MNK/NIN off, with all nice evasion gear etc you will need for it, you can even tank in merit pty's with it :)


As a Blm, the reason why you find it hard, is because ont of the main merip point camps (if not the main camp) is Fighting Greater Colibiri through Nysle Isle. So what you have to do, is make the party yourself! take your party to any of the older area'a, or fight Trolls in Mount Zaylom, or Mamool at Mamool stagingpoint OR Nysle Isle. Many Melee just solo their ws, prob cause most are lazy, i dunno, but if you find the two jobs with the 2 ws's you want to make the skill chain you want (preferable Lightness or Darkness) then as leader - you can state the SC, and then have all the enjoyment hitting MB after MB after MB. Helping the party reach Limit chain 10+, earning 30k limit points, take a break, earn another 60k more limit points, then say - well, thank you for the G r e a t party guys, dont forget what blm's can do for you blah blah blah, sit back relax, Warp back to town & your mh & spend your 90k mp's on your final Attribute upgrade of a nice sweet INT+1. Not bad for a days work :P

that pup in the middle is an npc involved with ToAU. and the picture to the left is not odin. that armor looks nothing like odin's. it looks more like a monster involved with trolls because it's armor looks like lava (kinda reminds me of the date erukas). may be a new beseiged NM.
the pup's clothes in there have the same modeled shirt. but still doesnt resemble the regular AF to be AFII.

Possibly the single most "starter" job that is utterly lacking content is mnk. We have little to no JSE, the job is a wreck pre endgame with most pt's fighting Piercing mobs (Colibri), or Crabs. How about they finally address mnk and the 3 recently added jobs before they run about and give something else to sam and pld. I hold out some optimism that they will finally help out a job that is a trainwreck pre end game.
