DC Universe Online: 4th Anniversary

To celebrate the milestone, we take a look at DCUO's content release timeline.

Origin Crisis

May 14, 2013

In Origin Crisis, the 7th DLC release, the space/time continuum has been compromised, despite Brainiac's defeat. Players battled through new high-level solo and multiplayer adventures, and fought alongside Future Batman or Future Lex Luthor in order to shift the balance of destiny for Heroes and Villains forever. As the story unfolded, the two summoned their forces in an attempt to modify fundamental events in the histories of iconic characters and transform their futures.

The DLC introduced the Quantum Controller Power set, two new raids and four new Origin Operations (two villain, two hero). Players were challenged in two solo Iconic Anomalies, could obtain Tier 5 PvE gear and had new trophies, feats and collections to work on.

“What if Batman’s parents had never died, or if Superman teamed up with Lex Luthor? We wanted to explore the idea of time travel and really dig into these alternate realities.” — Senior Creative Director Jens Andersen

Sons of Trigon

September 3, 2013

In DCUO's 8th DLC, Sons of Trigon, Wonder Woman and Circe battled alongside players through a hellish Gotham City landscape. The story picked up where Sins of the Father left off, with Trigon escaping his dimension and preparing to attack Earth, but instead getting stuck in a nightmare version of Gotham City. Players confronted Trigon and his three sons, as well as Raven and the Teen Titans.

Legends PvP characters Donna Troy and Cheetah were introduced in this release, as well as a new healing-based Power set: Celestial. New solo missions were added in the Gotham Wasteland, more feats and collections were included, as well as The Mausoleum, which featured a final battle with Trigon.

"Along with duo and solo content, we placed a larger emphasis on magic with this DLC. From fights alongside Wonder Woman and Circe to a new fast-action power, Celestial, Sons of Trigon requires great mastery and skill from players." Jens Andersen

War of the Light Part I

January 28, 2014

In the first trilogy installment for the game and its 9th DLC, War of the Light Part I put its focus on characters wielding power from the Emotional Spectrum. Four of the Lantern Corps converge on Earth to determine what happened to their entities and clash in a war of light, centered in Downtown Metropolis, as well as the nearby sentient planets Mogo and Ranx.

Players teamed up with Hal Jordan or Sinestro in multiplayer adventures while unleashing the newly introduced Rage Power. Two new Legends PvP characters were added – Atrocitus and Saint Walker – along with new feats, collections and Red or Green Lantern inspired gear.

"We transformed Metropolis for the War of the Light trilogy and created new, expandable environments and content – separate from the original. In War of the Light Part I both heroes and villains can utilize Rage powers, a unique and challenging power set that offers a new tanking mechanic, adding yet another dimension to fights.” — Jens Andersen

Amazon Fury Part I

May 6, 2014

Continuing with its introduction of trilogies, DCUO's 10th DLC came in the form of Amazon Fury Part I. In this pack, Queen of the Amazons Hippolyta was enraged by Brainiac attacking Paradise Island, and blamed the mortal world for his crimes. She plotted a strike with her ally Circe while her daughter Wonder Woman rallied an Amazon army to defend Gotham City.

A new shared area, the Solo Iconic Visions, was added with this DLC, which was an alternate phase of Gotham City called Gotham Under Siege. Players were able to play as either Wonder Woman or Circe as they relived crucial moments leading up to the Amazon civil war. Two new duos and a 4-player alert gave access to the Themyscira Palace District, warehouses and the seaside port for the first time.

"Wonder Woman and Circe have always had a dynamic relationship. By introducing Wonder Woman's mother, Hippolyta, to the mix, we are further fueling their tumultuous relationship." — Jens Andersen

Halls of Power Part I

August 6, 2014

The game's 11th DLC, Halls of Power Part I, introduced the start of another epic trilogy to DCUO. Darkesid's son, Kalibak, and Mantis teamed up to delve deep in their search for powerful ancient relics on New Genersis and Apokolips. They intend to use these relics from the age of the Old Gods for dark purposes, so Mister Miracle and Big Barda assemble a force together in an attempt to stop them.

This release added five co-op adventures, six skill points, and a range of new collections, feats, gear and base items. The content played out in League Halls, New Genesis and Apokolips as players battled with or against these iconic characters. It marked the first time that villains and heroes from the Fourth World were introduced in DCUO.

"With the addition of new environments, League Hall content, and the debut of the New Gods, we think this DLC was one of our biggest and best updates since our launch on the PS4." — Jens Andersen

War of the Light Part II

November 18, 2014

Players returned to the mystery of the Emotional Spectrum in DCUO's 12th DLC, War of the Light Part II. An uneasy alliance between Green Lantern Hal and Sinestro has been forged, while Carol Ferris and the Star Sapphires have arrived on Earth to restore their own entity and put a stop to the strife.

With this DLC, Zamaron (home of the Star Sapphires) and Qward (center of the antimatter universe) were introduced for the first time in the game. More skill points, collections, feats and base items were added, players gained access to a variety of appropriately themed gear, and the release featured several new multiplayer Alerts and Operations, as well as open world solo missions and a single-player Challenge Mode.

"The introduction of Larfleeze and the Star Sapphires in War of the Light Part II adds a lot of depth to the story. With nearly all the Corps now part of this epic trilogy, players really get to dig deep into Lantern mythology." — Jens Andersen

Amazon Fury Part II

TBD 2015

DCUO's 13th DLC, Amazon Fury Part II, will be released this year. The Amazon war will continue, with the arrival of Ares and Hades. Battle alongside Wonder Woman and Circe in the depths of the underworld to discover what happened to the Amazon Queen, Hippolyta.

This release will add the mythological figures of Ares (the God of War), Hades (God of the Underworld), Cerebus and more in their debut appearance in DCUO. Players will be able to enjoy more single and multiplayer adventures, including raids (one of which has an elite version), Operations and Missions. Themed base items, feats, collections, skill points and more gear will be available to earn.

“Amazon Fury Part II is the continuation of one of our deepest stories for DC Universe Online to date. With Wonder Woman, Circe, the Amazons, and some of DC Comics’ greatest mythological bad guys all duking it out, the second arc of this saga is sure to give fans an ultimate comic experience.” — Jens Andersen

DC Universe Online has had an action-packed four years and is still going strong. The game is free-to-play and is available on the PC, PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4.
