You can find the text of the announcements below, and more information on the EverQuest: Macintosh forums and Magic: the Gathering - Tactics forums.

Dear EQ Mac fans,

We said this before and now we really have to do it – we’re sunsetting EQ Mac. As a passionate Mac player, I’m disappointed to have to share this news. We decided to keep the game running after receiving your feedback when we originally announced the sunset plans early last year, but with all of our development aligned towards our upcoming slate of games, we simply cannot justify the resources required to continue to support this version of the game. Please know that this was not a decision that was taken lightly. It was a hard call to make, but we know it’s the right thing to do. Thank you for your support of EQ Mac and the time spent in the game.

Today we are announcing with our partner, Wizards of the Coast, that we will discontinue game services for Magic: The Gathering - Tactics on March 28, 2014. We are honored to have been a part of bringing you the magic of the Multiverse over the last few years. It has been a fun and memorable journey, and we thank you for all of your dedication and support.

They shut it down cause people were hacking like crazy, causing all kinds of disruptions on the server and soe didn't want to spend "resources" to police the server.
Seamless entry to regular servers.

At least put a button on the patcher for a link for seamlessly entry to regular servers or something. As leaving it to the customer to find and make work, a third party mac to windows compatibility program will not work out well as not all people are that technical. If not, this is really sad for them indeed. Their world vanquished....

I understand... "business decisions", but I wonder what it really costs to runEQmac on a monthly basis?

Considering that playerbase paid to play static content for... 8? years, I think SoE came out way positive on the accounts ledger here.

Closing EQmac was a bad PR move in 2012, it's still a bad move today imo.
