Well, I knew of only one situation. I don't think I ever "glorified" Magi, but I did stick up for him when Kupo was insulting him before. That was before I knew about this situation. And I regret that now.

I never openly insulted him, but I wasn't buddy buddy, either. I just thought he had a bad and inappropriate crush. I did encourage the one lady I knew about to bring it forward to another Admin here if things got out of hand.

And to the Admins, especially Exo and Pikko (since I see them posting here and feeling bad for not catching this):

There may have been a private rally to remove Magi, but honestly those mainly fail because it boils down to a 2 sided argument with little concrete proof. Boys will be boys is and oft used excuse for internet harassment. We had similar in a chat I belonged too ages ago. In the end, the admin in this case was innocent, and the guilty party was the "accuser". The main admins cut the accused admin's priviledges, only to learn later that all the evidence was forged.

It's not easy, but because it was privately handled (I knew because pretty much every admin saw me as a friend and told me the situation), no one learned that others had found themselves the victim of this false accusation previously with identical evidence.

In short, don't think you failed to do something. You gave an admin the benefit of doubt, assuming the hurt feelings may have come from someone in a lesser role hating someone in a position of power. Until Doug brought that private fight public, there was no open discussion or consideration. Individuals had been contacted individually, and the community (as evidenced by the reaction) did not know all of this was going on.

nLOD, Doug, and anyone else who helped in this fight, I'd like to thank you for all your efforts. While this situation would never have impacted me, it would impact people I consider friends here.

Good riddence to the rubbish, and let's take the lessons given by this:

If someone harasses you, be they admin or user, friend or anonymous, tell someone. Out the person. Harassment thrives in the dark places, but cannot withstand the light.

Probably because that's kind of how things work around here. If everyone who made a pass at the female posters here was banned we would not be reading posts from Rimesume, Barkingturtle, or Elderon.

It's up to the people who are involved to let people know when certain people are crossing the line between jokes and harassment and to the admins who are notified to accurately assess the situation.

I think that Belkira's response was pretty typical of most of us. We would stick up for someone who is being picked on but because we didn't know what was going on. But I'll say this, about the history of Magi in the OOT.

He came here at a time where a bunch of people felt really disliked by the Admins but Magi, he was on our side. He'd be our friend. Elderon kind of was this polarizing figure on some level, making multiple posts about Magi and in some ways, galvanizing people to defend Magi. But what Elderon doesn't realize how much Magi would urge us to defend him and after a while it became a bit annoying--on both sides.

I thought Magi was engaging initially in some playful flirting w/ the OOT women but it became clear later that he became alternately lustful and really hostile--and not in the cool Barkingturtle sense, but in a way that was really pretty creepy. That's when I stopped being nice to him. He was a creep in that way and I didn't even know at that time how much he was harrassing others. He was just weird b/c I wouldn't play into his sexual advances or defend him on the main board.

It was weird and uncomfortable.

I was going to put in my but it is all over and done with now. Everything is taken care of and that's all that matters.

I think Doug and nLoD deserve new titles though. "Savior of the OoT wimminz"!

I've been doing this eight years and this is a first for me. But then again, the site is much larger now than it ever was, with a lot more staff. Previously, I worked closely enough with all of the staff members that I would notice any oddities and take care of them. With so many new sites and admins, that is not possible anymore. In this case, especially because he came over from ogaming, I didn't work much with Magi. I am pretty upset something like this happened and went unreported for so long.

If there are ever any issues with any staff members, please e-mail me personally about them. Obviously firing someone is an extreme measure to take, although clearly warranted in this case. But I always take seriously any complaint about a member of our staff and make it a point to look into it.

I offer my personal appology to those who were accosted by Magi.

Them are some mighty big words tere' misser'; we are but humble OOTers.
