I know many of my EQ1 friends will be trying out EQ2 at the least (myself included).

A few friends convinced me to try it. While it's an alright game, it really gives me the feeling that it was written by Legend of Zelda developers, rather than Everquest Developers. It's almost like the Nintendo version of Everquest.

I'm probably going to give it a few more days, but so far I haven't seen a lot to convince me to leave EQ1 for it. The combat system's a lot less robust (you basically follow their script on fights, no splitting and minimal choice in how to actually do the fighting). The quests are far too easy (they tell you pretty much everything to do, rather than allowing you to puzzle it out (assuming you don't read up on the quest here, of course!) The graphics are nice, but I just don't see the game really holding me that long. Probably the only way that is going to happen is if most of my friends leave EQ for this, maybe...

Everquest 2 has a different feel than EQ, and it also takes MUCH more hardware to run. So I think you will see a lot of people come over, but EQ will still keep going strong.

From what I've heard quests get much harder at higher lvls.

I think EQ2 just gives nice start for new charcters and after all how hard it was to get to level 10 in EQ 1? Game should get more demanding at higher levels

It is more "adventure-like" than old EQ, and some of the atmosphere have certainly changed... But i really like the game... and especially the fact that it pays of to make quests.
It reminds me of The (relatively) new tutorial to EQ... it is well balanced in power... so far.... and i like that there is hints on the quests...
Only way to do most EQ1 quests.. (at least without knowing the entire game by heart) was looking it up on Allakhazam, and I so like to do quests on my own...
There are some beaty scratches... with the fighting... EQ1 felt more real in a way... and some of the game seems a little easy by now. Will probably get harder later on.

A few bad things however... If the Trivial Loot Code (TLC) really applies to all servers ... i will lay crying at nights for all the quests i will loose.
And then the fact that you cant do same quest twice;
I had a group helping me kill Captain Rockbelly the ghost and they Lottoed the quest drop (the cutlass)... which basicly means i cant ever get it. Unless i can Pay (or trick ) some poor soul into making the first part of quest for me... and not want cutlass to continue it.
Hehe and ofcause ... severe stability problems and current time, will get better i hope.

Nice game all in all... and will keep me of EQ for at least some time.

I have to agree that there is a huge difference between the two Everquests. It's almost like a cross between the PS2 EQOA and the orignal Everquest for the PC.

There seems to be a major move in RPG and MMORGS to the "Cartoony" characters. Not that EQ2 is that bad, just kinda like watching Saturday morning cartoons.

I absolutely am absorbed by this "new" Everquest. I only get a few hours to play at a time but I am fascinated with everything that is going on on my screen.

Great Job SOE! I think this is time and money well spent!
