When you start the game and arrive in a city after the starter island you receive a place to live. the town I was sent to is where i did my citizenship quest. Not sure at what point the trading can start (before or after your citizenship quest) as they added the selling after I started Beta.
To sell you buy a merchant bulletin board from a guy in either Qeynos area or Freeport Area then trot back home and hang it on your wall. Right click it and you have your store. You list your items for sell just from your person (no special bags needed). Right now in Beta it is hard and the way it is done may change on release. But for now every time you leave the room or LD or the game goes poof, when you come back you have to relist the prices and restart selling. So easier way is to write down what you are selling and how much. Downfall is you have to remain in your room while you want to sell that is in debate right now on the beta 2 boards. Won't be so boring once release happens as some will have their dragon to play with and also you can do tradeskills while sitting in your room.
Another way to buy is go to a broker and you can buy from them all is listed for Qeynos area, and Freeport's is seperate too. The buyer pays more through a broker (I hear 20% more. Also there is blackmarketiers that will sell items between Qeynos and Freeport, but have not seem them yet. (Heard they will charge 40% more.)

hope they fix it so your items stay available for sell even when you are not in the game.

I'd like that as well but I don't think that would be a good idea. I think that would wreck the economy faster then it got ruined in EQ.

Because then it's not just the die hard sellers in bazaar camped out all day, it's EVERYONE who plays! Plat would be worthless...fast.

But that's just what I see; I may be wrong... although it would be a first if I were. Smiley: rolleyes

Err the way money goes there is really weird. 100 copper makes 1 silver, 100 silver makes 1 gold, 100 gold make one platinum. No selling of buffs (cannot buff a person unless grouped, leave group, buffs leave, some buffs (sow) leaves if engaging mob. If mob is too low, nothing drops. Farming tradeskill items is all I see for now and making tradeskill items. If the game failed it would be from the money (lack of it) and/or the lag. Don't get me wrong I love it but by the time you do a quest make 44c or 2 silver, then turn around and you outgrew your armor. At lvl 15 I have had to replace total armor 3 times. (It tells you when you no longer gain from it)you are broke again. Spells are the same you get new ones each level but have to turn around and buy part 2 from a vendor and part 3 is player made. So each level you are broke again. Right now I feel rich I have done over 100 quests and have 2 gold in the bank (woot). But I look at it this way, Everquest walked before it ran too. I am sure there will be changes on release and throughout as time passes. I am willing to be there and see how it evolves just like I was for Everquest.

SOE still hasn't learned, though. Requiring you to stay online to sell just sucks. They should have set up an auction system like FFXI or WoW. This is the one big thing that leaves a really bad taste in my mouth and may sour me from playing EQ2. I may just end up going for WoW instead.

Sure, the new system is better than having to set your clip plane to 0 to even move, but many other MMORPGs have come up with great ways to encourage tradeskills.

(fix typo)
