Focus Effects do they stack?Follow

#1 Jan 07 2004 at 1:11 PM Rating: Decent
I understand that Flowing Thought items stack up to 15 points, but I have heard that other focus effects do not stack suck as Mana Preservation. For example I have two Mana Preseveration III items on my character did that double the benefit having the 2nd Mana Prservation item or did I just waste my plat by having two Mana Preservation III items because I will only receive benefit from one item?

I am unable to find info on this so if there is a place I can go and read about it please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

no

FT is only effect that will stack. none of the others will stack. you will only get the benifit from the highest effect of that class.

mana preservation I on wrist
mana preservation III on chest

you would only get the MP from the chest item, but all the other stats bonuses from the wrist item are still there just not the MP I.

hope that helps a bit.

np, same results. now careful on the ID and SH...

those work different then MP.

MP works IIRC on all spells, but the amount of mana saved changes. i could be wrong on that..

with ID and SH, the I-IV will determin the spell level that the item works on.

I works on up to 30s were IV works all the way up to 65.

the base effect is the same, but the level of spell it will work on is different.

so if you are a 50th wiz with Improved Damage I, you are not going to get any benifit from that item, but if you have Improved Damgae III or IV you will.

I have a MP I item and a MP II item on my beastlord, until such time as I finally get around to replacing the MP I item. When I cast spells of level 22 or below the MP I item activates, when I cast higher level spells the MP II item activates. It's kind of interesting that they just didn't have the MP II item activate for all levels of spells.

At least if you have multiple items with the same effect you have a little extra "insurance" when shopping for new stuff. If there's a really cool item that you want to buy, or that drops, or you can quest for, but you don't want to replace your MP III item, then you have a tough choice to make. But since you have 2 you can replace either one. So yeah, it may not have been the most cost-effective move but you at least have more options open to you now.

Game on,

I did not think of it that way Oneiromancer that is a good point that I have a choice now on which item to replace, as I can shop for a back or a shoulder item. I guess the effort to buy up Focus Effect III items was not a total loss as replacement will be easier selecting items for two slots.

And Singdall good point too there on the level the spell is affected by on ID, I am a wizard and rarely use lower level nuke spells, haha guess I just want to blast way!

Thanks all!
