Does eq1 still have any place for lowlvls?Follow

Hello folks,

Its been almost a year and a half since i last played eq due to many reasons, mostly job hours and such. Coming back into the game about a month ago, just to see what significant changes had taken place in Norath, I found that towns such as Erudin (rarely populous to begin with) and Kaladim were completely empty of players. On the other hand, the plane of knowledge held at least 150 players ranging from 39 to 60.

I have never played as a power-leveler, simply not knowing the how or where to do so.

I had always enjoyed the exploration, questing, and storylines more than the leveling itself. Having eq 2 on the way though has brought back a pull to play the original again. I have been known to take a 5th lvl halfling with camo into Splitpaw for a Rodcet Nife kidnapped priest quest (and yep i got pretty far til finally someone spotted me) and taking a 9th level barb shaman all the way to the City of the Ice Dwarves of Velious,... on foot (sow'd of course). I liked playing scout.

So without *begging* for a power-level-trip, i find it hard to believe there is a place in everquest for a new character...
Most people playing eq, in my opinion, know what they are doing at this point and know just where to go and how to level fast.

***As a side note, i do not condone begging except as the in-game skill. If someone offers their help in leveling, that's something to enjoy and be thankful for but not to take advantage of.***

Am i correct that there is no real place for new low level characters in eq1, or are there actual low level players still in everquest to group with?

Going back over some of the threads newly places, i recognized some people who are new to the game. It may have just been the fact that i was looking on an ancient server for players.

If you don't mind my asking, what servers are the most agreeable to finding new allies to game with? (ie. what servers can new players find new players on to group with long-term?)

By long-term, i mean friend making long-term, guildmates, etc.

Yes Yes and thrice YES, with out new players <or old one coming back, Eq will become stale and fade as a game.
Eq is much easier now for a new player than it used to be and you are right there has been alot of changes but the game is still the same and there are more quest for the higher levels to do anyway.
If you want to stick with the low level stuff i would direct you to the Newbie armour quests which i believe have been implemented for al races/classes now.
other wise you take a class you know you like and get to lvl 20 and do some LDoN which i think will suit your playstyle anyway. hell before you know it you'll have a lvl 50 rogue doing your epic and your hooked again 8o).
But the most importanat thing is to play te way you want to play, get in a good guild and make friends, IMHO this is the only reason EQ has lasted the time it has, friends become more important than the game itself.

as for servers either try the newbie server <Stromm> or one of the younger ones as they are more fresh.

Druzzil Ro is a great server with guilds for all levels and play types if you choose that server send me a tell i'll come rescue that priest with you 8o).

Thanks Tarv!

Well, here's to getting new job and a new subscription LOL!

I will check out Druzzil Ro. I've never been there at all. Most of my days were on Erolisi Marr and Nameless.

It will be a couple of weeks before i get on... have to get a paycheck. I've been reading some of the posts which caught my eye by newer players, and i have to admit it looks like there is still alot of Life in Eq.

Be there soon,
Traifin

Also as a returning player, I have been having a blast - the newbie quests are fun and worthwhile. I'm on Stromm and, while folks have been saying that the economy in the bazaar is outta whack, I simply don't buy anything overpriced.

After level 20, here's always LDON. But for right now, I have 4 level 19 characters and have been having a blast!

Of course it does :). It would suck if it didn't have newbie zones

it is kinda cool now - yah, i started "way back when", ut honestly, you lose no xp before 10, you repop with all your gear, your newbie spells (if you have them) are already memmed for you, weapon is equipped, you get food, drink, bandages, and a groovy bag to put them all in. plus, there are armor quests that are easily attainable. on my bard, i kept her newbie bracers for a long time until i could afford better. have a good time coming in and playing and welcome back!

Well, even on Vazaelle there is a very healthy and active lower level community.

The 20's and 30's scene is as active as I have seen it for the past couple of years much due to LDoN I'm sure.

The only point I would make is that you will need to get used to playing with heavily twinked companions, which should not be a problem as it makes your life a little easier. Smiley: smile
