New Dragon's Prophet Zone: Puretia

The free-to-play MMORPG, Dragon's Prophet, unveils its newly released video detailing a new starting zone that players can uncover. Enter Puretia, a zone filled with mountains, caves, oh and did I mention zombies? Yes, undead can be found in the zone attacking any near by adventurers and it will be up to the players to uncover the foul secrets and mysterious plot that Puretia has hidden away. Keep your wits about you while you explore in this area, or you might be swallowed whole by the coming darkness.

Being Metal 101.

Step 1: Make a fist.

Step 2: extend your thumb, index finger and little finger on the same hand.

Step 3: Scream "YeaaaAAAAHHHHHH!"

Ahem.

The latest video to highlight Dragon's Prophet may cause your hair to spontaneously grow three feet in length and adopt a suspiciously permed appearance. It is called The Ballad of DraGod and any description I would try to give beyond that might make my brain fold in on itself.

If you've had a hankering to try out Dragon's Prophet, the new MMO from Runewaker and SOE, you now have the chance to scratch that itch.

Open Beta launches for all players today, May 30 at 5pm Pacific -- Dragon Pack purchasers have had access since yesterday -- giving you the opportunity to explore the collection-oriented MMO's large world and interesting take on pets.

In Dragon's Prophet, you find and tame dragons in order to use them as mounts, combat partners and even to merge their abilities into your own, allowing for plenty of customization.

Into the Dragons' Den

In most MMOs I’ve played, the gallant hero is asked by a desperate kingdom to slay the wicked dragon. Not so for upcoming MMO Dragon’s Prophet. In this latest free-to-play creation from Runewaker and published by Sony Online Entertainment, you get the chance to tame, train and ride dragons of your very own.

For all those eagerly anticipating raising a clutch of magical reptiles, the good news is that open beta starts in North America on May 30. Founders with VIP access will get a 24 hour head start, giving them early access into the world of Auratia. Closed Beta testers will also be pleased to know that the NDA has been lifted from today, freeing them to share their tales of daring draconic deeds with friends.

During the weekend I dived back in, mainly to see how development had progressed since my first look last month. Joined by ZAM regular Chris Rainey, we livestreamed our progress (part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4) from character creation to the giddy heights of level 20. As an extra bonus, I’ll be streaming a special session on ZAM's Twitch.TV channel from 4pm Pacific on Thursday May 23, where I’ll be joined by senior producer Todd Carson to answer all your Dragon’s Prophet questions.

Dragon's Prophet: Live Interview

Can’t wait to get a slice of Runewaker and Sony Online Entertainment’s dragon-taming MMO? You’re in luck, as earlier this week we reported that Dragon’s Prophet will be entering open beta on May 30. In order to dig into that announcement a little more, I interviewed SOE senior producer Todd Carson on what players can look forward to.

As we saw with Gareth "Gazimoff" Harmer's preview of the Dragon's Prophet closed beta, the new MMO from SOE and Runewaker is an intriguing proposition.

By finding, taming and collecting dragons, players will use their companions' strengths to augment and customize their own.

Dragon's Prophet: Exploring Beta

The world of Auratia is crammed with dragons. Legend has it that Elder dragons arrived many years ago, breeding with other creatures and creating hundreds of new species. From soaring fliers to graceful swimmers, each of them is blessed with a unique set of abilities that adventurers will be eager to make use of.

Dragon’s Prophet has a slogan: “Their Strength is Your Power”. But, as Senior Producer Todd Carson explained, this is about more than just a fighting companion or convenient steed. In this upcoming MMO from Taiwanese developer Runewaker and published by Sony Online Entertainment, dragons impact every aspect of the game, from questing to crafting.

Dragon's Prophet: Hands On

Be it the works of Tolkien, a certain incredible series that makes Monday to Saturday just filler, or virtually every fantasy MMO in existence; dragons are a staple of myth and now popular culture.

Dragon’s Prophet puts these enthralling creatures of legend front and center of both its world and its gameplay as you seek out, tame and join forces with dragons to bolster your own abilities.

While at GDC, I attended a presentation of the game by Todd Carson, Senior Producer of Dragon’s Prophet from Runewaker and SOE. The introductory demo was followed by a quick hands-on session to get my own perspective on what to expect.

Start Exploring Dragon's Prophet

If you’ve not heard of Dragon’s Prophet before, let me give you a reason to be excited. In this upcoming fantasy MMO from Runewaker, dragons are no longer the scaly, fire breathing piñatas stuffed with loot and experience points. Instead, you can capture, train and ride a dragon of your very own!

The Taiwanese developer, previously known for Runes of Magic, is working with MMO mega-publisher SoE in order to bring the dragon-riding adventure to Western markets. After announcing the agreement at SoE live last year, the team is finally ready to lift the curtain on two new starting zones.
