Stephen Lang, the main bad guy from Avatar, took to Twitter over the weekend to throw his name into the hat to play Cable in the green-lit Deadpool sequel. I'd say he has the look. Movie broke three or four weekend and February records, showing that sometimes taking risks work out.
Todd McFarlene, creator of Spawn and one of the head honchos of Image Comics, says the script for his Spawn movie is pretty much complete and about 140 pages long, and says "I'd put it more into horror/suspense/supernatural genre. If you take the movie 'The Departed' meets 'Paranormal Activity,' something like that... In the background, there’s this thing moving around, this boogeyman. That boogeyman just happens to be something that you and I, intellectually, know is Spawn. Will he look like he did in the first movie? No. Will he have a supervillain he fights? No. He’s going to be the spectre, the ghost."
Another trailer was released today for Daredevil season 2, which will be returning this March.

Flash: Earthquake based villain, quick peak at a tv news report about how citizens are "shaken." I heh'd. Good thing there was only three people in that huge collapsing building. Does everyone easily break into STAR Labs? Also Barry, you know Zoom showed you just so you'd get faster, so way to do exactly as the villain wants. Theorycrafting time: Jay tried to get faster, but lost his speed to Zoom. Zoom is obsessed with getting faster, and Jay is lacking in go-fast except for the Velocity potions. A quick google search shows Zoom's secret identity is Hunter Zolomon, who we found out an episode or so ago was Jay's doppleganger's name after an adoption. So I'm guessing Jay created Zoom when trying to go faster. Possibly split himself from the Speed Force which manifested itself as Zoom. Maybe the real Jay is the guy in the mask, and possibly the Earth-2 Hunter is imposterating Jay and is actually Zoom. Jay's kind of a dumbass. Who the hell stands in front of the doorway in a horror movie? As if "you're cured" and "hot girlfriend" weren't red flags enough. Also probably not dead The Jaws promo was a nice touch.

Julianne Moore in talks to be the villain in the next Kingsmen movie. While the movie was an amusing watch, I think the first movie underutilized Samuel L Jackson so hopefully Moore is written as a better villain.
There's rumblings about how Fox is looking to push the next Wolverine movie to an R rating after the massive success of Deadpool. I don't know, it worked on Deadpool because of how juvenile the movie was, and the Wolverine movies tend to be ridiculously serious business, bordering on morbidly depressing. I don't think the formula works to try to catch that lightning twice with such isometrically different franchises. I guess I'm forced to at least consider the possibility of it working, considering I didn't think it'd work for Deadpool either.

Arrow: We can't possibly have Felicity have any challenges to her personality. Begone, crippling! "How about I kicked your ass like a woman?" What, nag until he loses the will to live? If you're going to make painfully cliche girl power statements, then I'm going to make painfully obvious sexist jokes. Vixen was kind of a neat character in the last (before last? One of) Justice League cartoons, so I'd like to see how her powers translate in the Arrowverse. Seems simple enough.
Such beautiful news, James Gunn confirms Pom Klementieff will play Mantis! Aside my calling it months ago, it probably means at least one awesome martial arts fight scene. Hopefully Winter Soldier level. Gunn also says that Quill will still be the only one with an Earth origin, so they'll have to figure out an alien race to change her to, since Mantis is Vietnamese-German. Then again, Drax is kind of from Earth too, and that worked out ... by ignoring it completely. There's still Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Kurt Russell's roles to go.
Absorbing Man, Crusher Creel, to show up again in the next half of Agents of SHIELD. Good, he was one of the more interesting villains the show had to offer, and I'd doubly appreciate it if they'd further confirm the link between AoS and Daredevil. Have him talk about his boxing days and about how he got screwed out of a championship or something.
Robert Downey Jr is playing Geppetto in a Warner Bros.' Pinocchio remake similar to Disney's Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella, which is kind of funny if you think about MCU Tony Stark. And it'll be directed by Ron Howard. Really just wrote this because the whole Geppetto Tony Stark thing had me chuckling. Abbey Lee in talks to play Tirana in a live action adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Tower. I remember somebody or somebodies read that, so that's probably good news. John Wick has a February 10, 2017 release date, and Blade Runner 2 gets MLK Weekend, 2018.
Leto sounds like a mensch.

Seeing as how his name has been absent all this time, if true I'd wager he's there for an after credits scene, possibly to link to Ragnarok. Waking up inside the cockpit of the Quinjet Hulk stole in Age of Ultron, looking out and seeing the Rainbow Bridge maybe?

Those fight scenes were kind of painful to watch. "Advanced technology," a chain and a tactical baton? Not one elite soldier noticed the glowing floorboards while clearing rooms? 
Kind of important to notice the floors to avoid being exploded. X-Files: They end it on a cliffhanger?! Yeah, okay, not nearly that surprising ... but still. Guess I'd have followed it a little easier if I hadn't missed an episode and a half.
Lucifer: As much as I enjoy these detective slash investigative dramas, I seem to have a hard time following them as they're airing new. The whole case-an-episode format leaves little to really follow between episodes, and these shows just kind of work better binging a few episodes at a time.
Gotham to start up again next Monday, bring us Mr Freeze and Hugo Strange.

Seeing as how his name has been absent all this time, if true I'd wager he's there for an after credits scene, possibly to link to Ragnarok. Waking up inside the cockpit of the Quinjet Hulk stole in Age of Ultron, looking out and seeing the Rainbow Bridge maybe?
Wash from Firefly, Alan Tudyk, Abed Nadir from Community, Danny Pudi, and I don't know from I don't know, Christina Kirk, have been brought in as series regulars for upcoming "Powerless" series. Two good additions, and one I don't know but can't be that bad considering the premise and the actors involved so far, right?
A mildly obscure Image Comic, "Officer Downe" is being made into a film, starring Kim Coates, Tig from Sons of Anarchy. Basically the comic is about a LA cop that dies by accident and is brought back to life with ... magic? Something. Basically it's what would happen if you gave Tackleberry from the Police Academy movies his own film and impunity to hunt down bad guys. Not a bad book, ridiculously short. The bad guys made the book, and I admit my curiosity is piqued. The director Mark Neveldine says it'll easily compete with any Marvel or DC movie, but that's kind of his job. You're only allowed to say it's gonna suck if it's the week before a Fantastic Four release.
Not sure if I'll see Batman v Superman, since I didn't like Man of Steel to begin with. I want to, but I don't want to.

Carter: A fairly accurate representation of an Italian kitchen, complete with the fighting. Film noir to musical number was ... something else. Quite enjoyable but ... something else. Jarvis not singing was disappointing though. Felt bad for the guy throughout the episode. If they're going to use Madame Masque then give her a flarking mask. Seriously, what the hell is the point of using the character for just the name? Even with pandering there's at least some reason behind it. Generally not a good reason, but one none-the-less. Sigh, at least they're kind of sort of ballparking the Maggia reference, and the Children's Doctor guy is amusing.

Looks like the first steps towards Netflix's Iron Fist have been taken, at least according to Entertainment Weekly. Rumors are flowing, saying Finn Jones from Game of Thrones has been cast as Danny Rand, to the no doubt outrage of many a people who live to feel outrage. He's young, blond, square chinned and a decent actor, which fits my expectations. Marvel hasn't confirmed it yet, but now that this is out it should be confirmed or denied real soon. I, for one, hope he wears the green jumpsuit with the big yellow collar and yellow ballet slippers ... but probably not the last one. And yes, I know they're not really ballet slippers.

There's a new rumor for Deadpool 2, from Heroic Hollywood and their "unnamed source" that Domino may show up in the sequel. I kind of doubt the discussion about the sequel has gone too far beyond "We're doing it," so at this point I know I'm taking this one with a grain of salt or fifty. She's a great character, and she debuted pretty much the same time Deadpool did, and the one that did show up was retconned into actually being a shapeshifter, Copy Cat, who just so happens to be the character Vanessa in the movie was based on sans powers.

Kind of bad news if you're a fan of Magic Mike's Channing Tatum, as his mutant premiere as Gambit has lost it's release date, but Fox is promising movies for October 2017 and January 2018. I'd assume one would be Deadpool 2. Another Sons of Anarchy actor finds his way into a comic movie, this time Tommy Flannigan in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Don't know. I could guess they bumped it to make room for Deadpool's sequel, since it did so well and he is a better known character, and with Huged Jackedman's Wolverine run is coming to an end maybe they just wanted to put all their efforts into them.

It was pretty hardcore last season. Although, I suppose, they eased into it a bit slower. Maybe. I agree that part of the point of this show is to actually tell the stories of how the various villains became what they became, so it makes sense to show the process in the case of Mr. Freeze. I also like how they're doing this really slow build of the Asylum as a major plot element. Should be fun to see that unfold. And now that we have Cobblepot there, I suspect we'll see it this season.

Yeah. I didn't like how they just glossed over that with a one line lampshade about being surprised to get service inside the freaking silo complex. Um... You don't get service because there aren't any towers nearby, and there's tons of thick solid material that block signals (even semi tall buildings have to place cell repeaters on the roof over their elevator shafts in order to allow coverage, so this is a real thing), and if that's not enough, almost certainly some form of Faraday cage around you as well (cause you know, EMP and whatnot). No amount of "hacking" fixes one, much less all three, of those issues. You'd have to gain physical access to the facility and install stuff (and remove stuff) in order to make this happen. At which point, why does she need a cell phone signal to gain access?
That was just silly. But then again, it's a show about a flying girl in a cape and a skirt. Based on what I've seen so far, they do seem to be leaning more towards the "science lite, drama/romance heavy" direction with the show. So, annoying, but not totally unexpected.

Disney's Big Hero 6, which was based off an obscure Marvel comic in the loosest way possible, is getting a TV show on Disney XD. I kind of actually liked the movie, so I'll probably add it to the DVR and watch it if I've nothing else recorded left at three in the morning.
I'm skipping Batman v Superman until the ratings thing gets resolved. As noted, rumors say the Blu-Ray is going to be R rated, and I'm not going to spend like twenty bucks at a theater to watch a censored version of a movie and have to spend more to see the uncensored version. It's like paying to watch the TBS version of a movie. A casualty of Deadpool's runaway success.

My plan is a bit better. I'm going to spend six bucks to see the censored version in the theater and then download the uncensored version a few months later.
As a side note, anyone else around here watching The Magicians? It's a bit on the emo side, but it's not terrible. It's sort of like if Harry Potter were made for adults.
