Oh, I am so going to use this the first chance I get - "an embarrassing distance beyond the pale."

He's clearly a liberal who's in league with Obama and will be driving the trains full of Americans into the Walmart concentration camps to be executed, cremated, and buried.

This is all rational normal behavior that the Left is obviously blowing out of proportions and Abbott, (Cruz and Norris) are just reacting realistically to it all by mobilizing the State Guard. Nevermind the other governors, they've been brainwashed.

Seven states but only one governor needed to put on a release promising to mobilize the state militia to "monitor" the US military.

Could you please point out where the word "mobilize" appears in this letter?.

This is precisely what I'm talking about. The people making a huge deal out of this are liberals. No one would have paid any attention to the tiny number of conspiracy theorists on this if not for the liberal media jumping on it and making it into a huge thing.

Funny story. I was talking with a friend late last week. This guy listens to nothing but conservative talk radio all day long, is up on all the latest issues, rants, etc. I asked him "So what do you think of this whole Jade Helm thing?" To which he was like "What's that?". He'd never heard of it. When I proceeded to describe it as a kind of false flag thing the left was trying to do by taking some crazy conspiracy theories about military operations and make them out to be something main stream conservatives supposedly care about, he said "Oh! That's what they were talking about!". He had not heard about the conspiracies, and certainly not anyone talking about them as something real to care about or be concerned about, but he had heard about liberals trying desperately to make some kind of conspiracy into some big story. He wasn't clear on the details, which should speak volumes about how this entire thing is a "Meh" among conservatives.

Go check out liberal sites and sources, and they're all abuzz about it. Which, as I said earlier, is very telling.

Quote:
But, you know, that's just standard coordination and it's totally normal. Well, unless you're one of the other six governors not pandering to the lunatic conservative fringe. Hell, even former governor Perry criticized Abbott for the decision. Which, you know, it seems like you wouldn't do if this sort of communication was par for the course.

The desperation wit which you're trying to make nothing into something is funny. OMG! He wrote a letter? He must be in on it!!!

Lol

Oh. And for the record, I agree that Abbott should not have written that letter. But his mistake was not in pandering to the nutty conspiracy theorists, but to the nutty liberals trying desperately to get people to take those nutty conspiracy theorists seriously. Had this whole thing remained safely on the conspiracy sites alongside fears about chem trails, and Roswell Greys, and Bigfoot, he would never have heard about it, much less written any letter in response. It was because much more mainstream media sources were carrying the story that he responded.

So um... It's you guys who are pushing this. How does it feel to be part of the nutty conspiracy crowd?

Hey, if blaming liberals is what it takes to make you feel better about a GOP that panders to conspiracy theories (*cough*birthcertificates*cough*) then that's fine. Trying to "prove" it to you is obviously a waste of time.

But you have a bestie who never heard of Jade Helm so why worry about what the rest of us think?

That would be this part. I mean, if you want to cry "BUT IT DOESN'T LITERALLY SAY MOBILIZE!" then you're welcome to that.

So, gbaji, can you explain why Governor Abbott thinks the "safety, constitutional rights, private property rights and civil liberties" are in danger of being "infringed"?

They can monitor them in an immobile way. Looking at them, I'd say that's their only option, in fact.

I've noticed the same thing about a co-worker. Anything negative about conservatives or the republican party isn't discussed on conservative talk radio. He is all about shouting Benghazi, but when I asked how he felt about the funding being cut for security, he looked at me like I had two heads. Cheney shooting his friend when they were hunting? I had to be making that up. His favorite host, Rush, gets outed as a drug addict? Nah, drugs are only a problem for poor minorities.

I don't read that as not a problem, I see it as ignoring it in hopes it will go away.

Listening to Rush yesterday, they had a commercial for Newsmax television. Without the "Fox News filter". So apparently there's people out there for whom even Fox News isn't crazy enough.

Sure, it could be the Air Force sitting in lounge chairs watching CNN for Jade Helm coverage and they'd still be considered mobilized if they were ordered to do so.

I'm not sure the Texas National Guard has an Air Force. Maybe a couple of crop dusters, I dunno.

It's not even the Texas National Guard which actually has connections to the federal military and would have been the logical choice of who to "coordinate" with if that was your goal. This is the Texas State Guard which is a state run militia group with no actual connections to the federal military.
Wiki wrote:
The Texas State Guard is a state defense force that assists and augments Texas military and civil authorities in times of state emergencies, and in on-going support of National Guard units and local communities. They are not part of the federal armed forces command structure, but rather operate purely as a state organized and controlled force.

I'm sure that the Texas National Guard is in cahoots with Obama or something.

They do, and they're a relatively historic organization. Mainly during Vietnam. Their State Guard also has an Air Force component.

Eh, the State Guard is regulated by the National Guard Bureau.

F-U for your extra dry British wit that now has me wondering if this was a spelling error or a fabulous pun. I hate you.
