Well, someone could...ask the nutters in question how they vote.

Crazy, right?

Not at all. What is crazy is asking this in a rhetorical way and assuming a specific answer instead of actually finding out the real answer. Most of those nutters either don't vote (because they don't believe that our system of democracy works, it's all rigged anyway, etc), or vote Libertarian Party. I suspect you just don't get how far out there these people are. They believe that the GOP and the Dems are in collusion to keep us all distracted from the real threats (which are numerous you know), and neither can be trusted. These are the kinds of people who fully accept stuff like Skull and Bones controlling politics. Or the Tri-Lats, or Bilderbergers, Aliens, etc, etc, etc.

Attempting to associate this with any mainstream political position is just insane.

Feeding is not the same as believing. The Left is feeding this by attempting to associate it with a mainstream political position (conservatives, or the GOP if they can manage it). Which, as I just said, is insane.

That was some pretty serious cherry picking and context ignoring on your part though. So kudos for that, I suppose.

Oooooooooor, maybe asking in a non-rhetorical way to get the answer? Maybe they're Monarchists. Or Whigs.

Hence, check the public records and find out if/how they registered.

And the Right feeds into this with rhetoric like "Obama is trying to take your guns" and "ferrying ebola-infected Muslims across the Mexican border". Don't even pretend to think that the Right doesn't abuse the media to incite class and race tensions.

Unless you're seriously making a "they do it, so it's okay!" argument, I'm not sure what that has to do with the specific subject at hand. Are you at least agreeing that the Left is deliberately exaggerating this and that's why we're all aware of this in the first place?

Hard to disavow any connection to the GOP when the Texas governor is placating these lunatics with promises to use the Texas State Guard to watch the US government rather than, you know, calling the people in question idiots (however tactfully or not).

But, sure, yeah... it's the just "Left" exaggerating and feeding this nonsense.

Your country is nuts.

In the UK, this kind of thing'd never happen. The governor would be too busy molesting kids. If he existed, which he wouldn't, because we don't have states.

Well, it's a news piece, to be sure, but all of the left-leaning liberal news sycophants I watch/listen to are reporting "nobody wants them to be there". I guess I'm just not as hip to the ultra-communist left as you are. All I'm saying is, that the right's ultra-militaristic neo-nationalism in fact breeds these kinds of movements.

As Samira notes, you've had these anti-government types for ages but it ramped up with the whole "Obama's a Kenyan Muslim Socialist bent on destroying America with his Neo-Colonialism values" bullshit that gets peddled to keep these xenophobic morons in line. After Jade Helm is over, maybe they can go back to protecting some tax criminal's cows in the name of "liberty".

In their defense, it could have been a little better if Obama did not literally go 180 on his promises regarding 'national security'; he would have only been a socialist Muslim then.

You do realize that you're repeating a story from like 4 months ago, right? And while I'm sure "monitor" sounds like he's having them watch the US military force with binoculars or something, while armed themselves, you know... just in case. The reality is that he just asked his state forces (almost certainly in a purely administrative capacity) to coordinate and maintain communications with the US forces. It's not like he's putting freaking troops on the ground or anything. What's funny is that while liberal media makes this out like it's something strange, the reality is that this is actually completely normal. Federal forces must normally coordinate their activities with state forces when engaging in these sorts of operations (or any sort of operation actually) within a state in the US. All the governor did was write a letter publicly containing statements about the exact same processes that normally go on behind the scenes between state and federal levels anyway. So much ado about nothing. And if in the process, it calms down a few nutters, that's fine too.

But yeah. It's the "Left" exaggerating and feeding that nonsense. This was a non story that was concluded months ago. Why is it a big story now?

That's a lot of spin to avoid admitting that the governor was blatently pandering to the conspiracy theorists instead of calling them idiots. You can almost taste the desperate rationalization.

Reports that residents of Clint, Texas have been forced by Jade Helm to be micro-chipped against their will? Probably not coming from the Left.

Or if they are, I'm impressed by the long game of the extremely disorganized and frequently self-destructive Left.

Or how Walmarts are being closed in order to stockpile weapons for China for when they invade to disarm Americans? Or how this is a front to gradually install martial law in preparations for financial collapse and/or Obama not leaving office? Or to round up political dissidents and remove key political figures who may be against the imposition of martial law? Or population control? Or how JADE is actually an acronym for artificial intelligence? Or how this is all practice for when the comet/asteroid strikes Texas at the end of the so-called operation and they're already there to take over the state? Well, you're wrong. This is all rational normal behavior that the Left is obviously blowing out of proportions and Abbott, (Cruz and Norris) are just reacting realistically to it all by mobilizing the State Guard. Nevermind the other governors, they've been brainwashed.

But hey, what's spending a few thousand dollars of state funds for a state that's regularly asking for financial assistance from disasters when you can put these rational normal people's minds at ease?

Seven states but only one governor needed to put on a release promising to mobilize the state militia to "monitor" the US military. But, you know, that's just standard coordination and it's totally normal. Well, unless you're one of the other six governors not pandering to the lunatic conservative fringe. Hell, even former governor Perry criticized Abbott for the decision. Which, you know, it seems like you wouldn't do if this sort of communication was par for the course.

Heh, this letter from a former Texas Republican state congressman is pretty amusing.

That was a pretty scathing letter. "You used to be a judge?"

Well, yes, because judges are elected in Texas.
