Integrity of the Game EQFollow

I encourage the dev team at Daybreak to really put the effort into keeping the integrity of the game intact.

Globally this means addressing the afk, boxing and afk boxing issues. It means handling the add-ons and hackers (even on Zek). It means doing things like massive DoT changes carefully, so that they scale intelligently through all eras being revised, but also finishing something like this when you start it. It does mean continuing to refine and progress the game. It also means banning the clear EULA breakers. It also means fixing server stability and the login patcher. It means improving official communication about what is going on. Getting a message out is easier than 1999 after all.

For live servers, it means not letting fixes and/or progression server adjustments break things. A recent good example is the "locked door bug". Yes it was a good fix. But it needs to be further fixed so live server players can access the old content without boxing a heroic rogue (or leveling one just to open a door). Simple fix is making lockpicking an all class AA era-set ahead of PoP but before current. It also means finishing unfinished things and fixing bugs. It means continuing to develop the game in a fun playable way. For example, hopefully it means EoK 2 with more of the zones (like Old Sebilis) available.

For progression servers, it means not catering to players that miss the point of progressing through eras (or enabling cheaters). A list is faster:
-continue to remove, reassign and set eras for things so they fit (aka rogue poisons and a DoN task in LoY are two recent blunders)
-not selling items (mounts) before mounts are supposed to be in game... with buffs that are massively overpowered for the era
-removing things completely that were mistakes/exploits. "Claimsgate" is an example of this being unclearly done, and the already mentioned rogue poisons.
-for Phinny specifically, it means not creating server drama points by not instancing something (i.e., Plane of Storms keying) on a server that open world wasn't supposed to be a barrier to raiding

Note: the recent decision to release GoD/OoW separately on progression was a pro-integrity move. Combining different level cap expacs is not a good idea. Combining some same-level cap ones is fine (PoP + LoY works for example).

I didn't mention Krono because I doubt we'll ever see a "no krono" server.

I heartily agree with your sentiment snailish. I hope Daybreak will move in the right direction. I haven't played since server stability had become an issue. I do keep my eye on the boards for information about the current state of the game. I'm sure I'll be back in the game eventually, just a matter of time.

Same here, haven't played in many, many months now due to server stability issues. Not sure I'll go back this time though.

I think the top priority they really need to work on is the server stability. I'm not sure what they did over the summer that really screwed this up but I'm guessing they downgraded/consolidated servers to save money since they are trying to make even more profit for their investment firm parents. The servers obviously cannot handle the load. But the servers aren't just crashing during peak times either, they are crashing early in the morning so there are probably multiple reasons as to why they crash.

Also servers crashing during raids and kicking people out of raid instances and leaving them with a lockout, not able to get back into the instance is a very big problem. Especially when you are competing with other guilds in ranking. Entire guilds getting fed up with the server stability and moving onto another game is a big loss for Daybreak.

The fix for illusioning through a door is annoying, actually. Prior to this fix, I would farm fabled jboots and hand them out to lowbies (I'm on FV, so they're tradeable). Or sell them when I was broke. There are several other fabled items I would farm because I was able to illusion through a door. Now, I have to do access quests (which, by itself isn't a big deal, but bleh).

Anywho, I don't understand why the communication team can't just come out and state, "Hey, we know it's annoying that our servers are always going down. Here's why:" Then again, they're not known to be honest and upfront.

I think I've come to terms with never having the EQ we deserve. Its truly a tremendous game with one of the best player bases in an game I've ever played online.

I know the developers care and I know they work incredibly hard, but Everquest will never be loved by a company as much as it is loved by players.
